This game works really well if you just want a cool dungeon crawler and ignore the story.
But if you DO want a story... this game is even better for that. ESPECIALLY if you've played its prequel; Prodigal.
The characters are interesting and multi-faceted, and the lore, OH THE LORE!
Veritus does a fantastic job of cashing in on all the worldbuilding done in Prodigal, while giving you just enough to not make it overwhelming or (too) confusing if you're new to the franchise. And of course it adds a good chunk of meat to the worldbuilding itself, asking as many questions as it answers.
And that's not even to mention the vast improvements in gameplay it has on Prodigal, plus all the new mechanics it adds on top of that! Seriously, if you play Prodigal for an extended period, then go straight into Veritus, you feel like you have superpowers.
Anyway, good game. Buy game. Play game. Good game.

Some of the best movement in a platformer I've ever seen. When you get good at it, you can really fly through the levels and it's super fun! Plus it's chock-full of secrets and lore, as to be expected from a Colorgrave game.
