I've played through this game several times on multiple platforms and bought it for my friends more times than I can count. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love this game.

The one thing that (to me) throws people off is that the gameplay is not its charm point— it's a Metroidvania, not an especially difficult one, and not one that does a ton of groundbreaking stuff. It's held back by a somewhat tedious collect-a-thon, to boot. By no means do I think it's a bad game– I love that every room has its own puzzle, and every pixel of every map, to me, is downright charming. I just think some people go into Iconoclasts wanting it to be something that it isn't.

To me, the story is its hidden gem. Its writing, while sometimes flawed and sometimes pessimistic, absolutely hooked me in. The game tells you comparatively little outright, characters are often intentionally cryptic, and the game relies on (if not outright begs) you as a player to be willing to put the pieces together, sometimes by completing multiple playthroughs or seeking out optional content. There's a ton of subtext and symbolism to unpack, and in that regard, I think it being an easier game with accessibility settings is the best thing for it.

And if you're reading this, I'm begging you to play it too, and to play it with a willingness to crack its worldbuilding open and slurp out its yummy insides.

However, please be warned: this game is known to not play well with Windows 11! If you have W11 and are worried about it not running, know that you can also pick this gorgeous game up on a number of other consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.

This game should have stayed a mobile game.

It's a cute looking game. You can tell the devs put a lot of heart in it, and I really wanted to like it, but unfortunately it just.. feels like a mobile game. It's repetitive. It has daily quests. It has premium currency. It has cosmetic microtransactions. It has unnecessary third-party accounts that you have to opt out of. It's got it all. The minute snippets of story did not at all feel worth slogging through the tutorial days and watching the game shove Christmas-themed decorations (bought with real money) in my face.

Frankly, this seems decent enough for something I'd play for a few minutes at a time on my tablet, but a straight-up port just isn't suited for longer gameplay sessions at a computer.

Conclusion: Just play Papa's Pizzeria, and maybe pick this one up on your phone instead.

i have super mixed feelings about this mod— the gameplay is impeccable, the characters are (mostly) enjoyable, and a lot of the writing was great! some of the mechanics they implemented for puzzles were super cool.

my one complaint is that the writing falls flat at some really important moments, especially near the end. i don't want to spoil anything, but i just... find myself baffled by some of the choices made! so, it's a really good mod, i hope people play it, but please don't let your hopes get too high if you're someone who really gets invested in the story, because you'll probably be let down.

Coming into this with very little knowledge of RPGs.... well. I can't say I enjoy it. I found myself enraged by a confusing control scheme, a bloated combat system, and very little actual tutorial segments. I was hoping for a bit more handholding, but it seems you're expected to simply pick up Pathfinder with very little help.

Maybe this game is fun to some people, people who have prior experience with Pathfinder and people who enjoy all of the lengthy pen and paper things. But... I'd rather just go play a pen and paper TTRPG, where at least I can ask questions.

Originally, I gave this game a negative review— when it was first released on Steam, there were frequent issues with crashing and save data loss. But now, these issues appear to be fixed, which is great, and I'm glad to be able to recommend this port.

--- ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW ---

I would really, really, like to recommend this, but in its current state, I can't. I love Cookie Clicker. I've played it on and off since its initial release, and I've seen the game grow from Classic to its current iteration.

However, the Steam version presents multiple very frustrating issues: Lost save data appears to be a common issue, and due to its nature as an idle game this can mean hours of time lost. Why this would be released with an utterly broken save feature is beyond me, but in the meantime all I can suggest is manually exporting/importing saves as necessary .... I also have issues with the game frequently crashing either on startup or shortly after, and often requiring use of Task Manager to properly close the game after it crashes.

It's sad, but the free browser version really does offer a better and more stable experience, in my opinion.

im going to be honest with you i bought this game as a funky joke. like ok yeah it's cheap and there's milfs what could possibly go Wrong.

the answer is everything. this game isn't even fun as a joke. this game wants you to suffer. this game hates you and everything you (and your ♥♥♥♥) stand for. the questions are incomprehensible. i've heard the last level is exclusively in russian. the outfits are layered improperly and there's a britmilf in it.

i could have bought a soda with the 99 cents i spent on hentai milf quiz. i could have watched naruto with the hour i spent playing hentai milf quiz. my life has been permanently altered for the worse because of this game

Let me start off by saying I have very mixed feelings about this game. Love the puzzles, hate the narrative.

I'm biased, sure, since I'm not attracted to women, but I honestly just cannot stand the vast majority of these characters. They have the bare minimum when it comes to depth, and the sameface is incredibly apparent in the art style. Every word that comes out of Kyu's mouth makes me want to punch her. Same with Audrey.

It's hard to focus on the puzzle aspect when Kyu is making "yellow fever" comments, and jokingly being called racist makes the experience 10x worse; call me sensitive if you'd like. The game pretty much rewards you for lying to these girls about what you like, which is... hm. Well, anyways.

Grievances aside, the puzzle aspect is good enough to keep me interested. I enjoy planning everything out and strategizing how to bed the irritating characters, the puzzles are fun, and the music isn't half-bad. I do wish that there was a little more inventory space so I could keep everything organized in sections, but I guess I can't complain too much.

All in all? A fairly decent experience, although I'm not sure I would recommend buying it off-sale if you aren't a straight guy.
