but that's OK, because this game is enough

It's just... not fun. Played on 800% difficulty, played on 25%. Campaign, skirmish, fan-made maps... No matter how easy or difficult you find it, its just not designed for positive feedback - its designed to be punishing. Which would still be ok, but it makes sure that happens by doing every dirty little trick you can think of.

Forced ironman, limited campaign tech tree, no respec on heroes or tech (follow a guide or you will slip up and be softlocked), clunky pathfinding, all combined with a slow pace and no speed settings to make every defeat snatched by a spawned in zombie on that cleared corner of the map as demoralising as they can. Win or lose you just feel drained and like you had your time wasted.

Great idea though, look at all the derivatives it spawned (which improve on the concept to become more enjoyable). It just isn't fun either as a strategy game, a survival game, a horde mode, or even as a difficult and punishing game - and having fun is what you're here for at the end of the day, right?

Good music, good visuals, good customisability of difficulty and game mechanics, interesting gameplay and interesting setting/story.

Still getting updates and custom campaigns after all this time
