Evil genius puts you in the position of the leader of an emerging evil organisation - an Evil Genius. You start with money and basic rooms to start your fledgling base, and will gradually gain access to more rooms and minions as you carry out missions.

Pros -

- The game is relatively easy to learn, with a quick tutorial to show you the basics, as well as a detailed glossary for every room and item.
- The game is challenging enough to almost always keep you occurpied and thinking.
- There is quite a bit of detail in the game, especially in minion animation and such.
- Agent AI is acceptable, with them snooping around your entire base, unless you stop them with traps.
- The game visual and audio assets are quite nice. The terrain is quite low-res and undetailed, but the models look colourful. Audio is also acceptable. Overall, aesthetically, pretty good for 2004.

Cons -
- The game is very slow, and requires you to play for hours if you want to complete it. This is nice for some people, but boring for others, and you can sometimes be waiting for minutes to get funds so you can build something. There is also no time speed setting.
- Although the game has enough features to make it fun, I feel that there could be more. There are only two ways of making money - The world domination screen, where you send out minions to provinces and tell them to steal, and stealing from tourists (something I haven't been able to figure out yet).
- Pathfinding for the minions is mediocre. You will often find groups of 3 or 4 just standing by a door for a few seconds before continuing on their way.
- Revising your base design to fit new rooms closer ot the entrace, for example, can be difficult. For a new player, who doesn't know what rooms they will get later may fill up any space, then have to destroy rooms/make rooms smaller etc. The problem is that building/removing/destroying rooms and objects takes time, which can be detrimental if your base is crawling with enemy agents.

Despite the cons, I still find this game enjoyable.

Simply, this game is AOE 2 with some nicer textures, 1080p support and minimal AI improvements. If you don't have AOE 2, buy this game when it's on sale or something. It's not really worth the default price, but it's still a fun game.
