It's a weird Kojima Game and I'm all for it. Started playing just an hour or so a day but eventually the story sucked me in and I'm really digging the experience.

Not just a boring "waling simulator" there's enough stuff going on around you to keep you entertained and in great Kojima style the story is nuts. At full price I might not feel the same but for $20 or under it's a steal

Structures you build online are shared between other players, I'd highly suggest leaving the default no spoilers option so you don't just get the fast pass to anything rough. Difficulty is not very hard but new areas bring new challenges that get easier once you get better gear and start finding/building stuff around the map to make traversal quicker.

I get it's early access, but this is way to early access for my taste.

Game seems cool and I'll definitely be back in 6 months when it's more playable. I really like the vibe and the game definitely has potential. I'm cool with early access but I'm not going to risk going over the refund timer to be an alpha tester.

Ended up hard crashing and having to kill the games process 3 out of the 6 runs I tried with no sort of error reporting or bugsplat system, fell through the map and had to quit out of one, and another enemies literally spawned out of thin air in front of the extract as I was running towards it. AI seems pretty rudimentary and will sometimes walk right past you with no care or target lock and ignore all other enemies like you're a bigger threat than the 2 giant mechs fighting 15 feet away.

Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 gig ram, 3080 and still struggled to stay around 50-60 fps. at 1440p

I've got great hopes I'll be able to come back and change this review in a few months once it's further along.

As soon as i booted up the game my PC fans started screaming. 3080 and a ryzen 7 5800x. 2 restarts later it was stable and as somebody who has played a ton of Civ i tried to hop into a skirmish.

UI and systems are so deep you get lost. I backed out and tried the tutorial and made in 15 minutes in before i yt'd the game.

Even the tutorial videos have like 10 different screens for basic actions/diplomacy.

This game is built for those that have been die hard fans since launch and it's so convoluted and muddy to an outsider it's not worth even if it's free.

If you like "souls" games imma say this is a hard YES.

Game vibes. Timings are tight but manageable. Every enemy attack has weight and the hitboxes feel really good.

I've 100% ds 1-3 and played a ton of games in the souls-like genre and this one has got me hooked only 2 hours in. I'll check back when i've 100'd this game.

I'm only 2 hours in so I can't say much about the story but all I know is i want my shell back.

If you like souls games just give it a shot. don't let the cartoony/colorful style make you think it's a kids game just because it's also on the switch. within 2 hours you'll not want to refund.

And if you're not a "git gud" gamer there's tons of ways to make the game more manageable, there's an entire accessibility settings/difficulty menu to help with what you're having trouble with.

-immediate edit, the systems this game are not build specific like most souls games, at least at 2 hours in it seems like you're going to be using most if not all of the systems the game has (which is not overwhelming it's very intuitive after playing around with the shells during the tutorial stages)

You only have 4 stats and a few augmentations/equips but the vast amount of shells and their skills are really cool to play around with
