As someone who grew up with and adores the aesthetic of the original BIT.TRIP series, this game is literally everything I ever wanted to see in a BIT.TRIP Runner sequel. This is THE best BIT.TRIP game, THE best Runner game, and THE best rhythm game I've ever played.

This game ROCKS. Last two levels have some of the sickest monster designs I've seen in a game and The Living Tombstone (who I normally don't care for at all) REALLY cooked with the game's soundtrack which I find myself coming back to all the time.

Yeah it's a really flawed mess but I still love this game. Amidst the bugs and half-baked game design there is also an undeniable charm and unexpected attention to detail that gets seriously overlooked.
My guess is that Steel Wool, a small and young dev team at the time had a great vision with too many ideas to execute with too little time, but whatever the case this was certainly NOT a cheap cash grab like many people wrote it off as.

This game is so pleasing in all the ways. Every character design is wicked sweet, the writing is super witty and I love having a deep story that's only there for those that search for it, making it a reward for one's own curiosity. Literally listening to the Risk of Rain OST as I write this and I'm not stopping any time soon because Chris Christodoulou created an absolute gem of a soundtrack
