The "The Room" of video games. I love this dumb game so, so much.

EDGE MAVERICK might be the stupidest protagonist in a genre rife with them, and I am not saying this lightly. Personal Actions (skits) have been written and directed by some race of ♥♥♥♥♥♥-up aliens making a gross mockery of how we humans interact. Game looks endearingly ugly, even in HD, due to peculiar texture choices, but that adds to the feeling of otherworldliness. Combat is fun enough. Plot-wise it's a prequel to the other SO games, taking place just as humanity becomes a spacefaring civ out of necessity. It uses the apocrypha of Enoch as window dressing, so I choose to believe it means El-Shaddai is part of the Oceanverse.
If this doesn't sound all that great individually, rest assured it all gels into a charmingly shoddy whole!

A must-play that didn't get its dues back in the day, but together we can work to repair this injustice. Please give SO4 a chance.

Heads up though, even with a shamefully high level of anime inoculation, Lymle is pretty off-putting as a character.
Switching voices to JP doesn't even help, she sounds just as... slow and her droning "na no yo"s are no less grating than her "m'kaaay"s. Once your party expands beyond the first 4 characters, you'll see progressively less of her, but I can't hold it against you if she's reason enough for you to decide to skip the game. Would be a pity though!
