While a streamlined version of Stellaris, and not as comprehensive in the timeline or in terms of total content as the New Horizons mod, it is nonetheless an enjoyable game that provides a fun dive into a specific era of Star Trek. I do hope they add more content with updates, and I hope they allow for more variables at game start (a la Civ or Stellaris) to improve replayability, but I've had quite a bit of fun playing the game so far.

Chiv2 is just a blast whether you're winning or losing it's just a great time. It reminds me of a time when I just had fun playing and didn't care if I was winning. I enjoy it so much for that reason specifically, and the game itself is very satisfying in terms of combat and playability. I do work for Torn Banner, but only recently, and 99% of this game was made without my involvement, so I'm not that biased - It's just fun lol
