Major threat dispatched: Sony. Sony tried to force players to link their Steam and PSN account. The player base made their voices clear, and Sony backed off. As long as Sony doesn't try any new nonsense with this game, the game is incredibly fun, and I highly recommend it. The devs are also passionate about making a good game, and it's nice to see.

Good game balance but really piss-poor art style, atmosphere, music. Looks like the game was made in the early 2000s and... That's an aesthetic choice for some games. For this game it feels like the devs had a budget of $7.06 to spend on music and art. I don't deny how much this game has influenced deck builder games, and the balance is pretty damn solid.

In comparison, a game like Inscryption (a game that's explicitly taken inspiration from Slay the Spire) is lacking in the balance that Slay the Spire has on point. However, what Inscryption lacks in game balance it MORE than makes up for it in atmosphere, in story, in music, everything about the game comes together cleanly to make a smooth coherent game. I mean, there's even a canon reason in Inscryption for the lack of game balance!

Overall... If you wanna play a card builder game for the balance and nothing else and can ignore the awful art and music, play Slay the Spire.

If you wanna play a story game or even just a roguelite/roguelike deck builder with atmosphere, setting, cool vibes... don't play Slay the Spire, you're not getting that here.

Overall I'd rate it a 6.5/10. Good game... But nothing special. Really was overhyped by the many people I've heard talk about it.

Got pretty far in the game, closed chrome to play game.
Game isn't that scary tbh
Sanity drops to lowest level possible ("...").
Chrome just decides to open, for no reason, just because it feels like it.

Nope, #2spook4me time to play a different game
