Not really a music game but a speech bubble sim.

Play it if you want a charming and heartfelt story with a massive variety of interesting little platforming mechanics between each dialogue drop. The payoff at the end is worth the journey but I cant help feeling like it could have been more streamlined and less clunky in some sections.

Tried the playtest and that was enough to get the full game due to its reasonable release price and even lower sale price. Pretty standard concepts throughout for a “survivors” game, but the main idea of being able to collect cards to build up the sequence of your move set should have been developed in much greater detail. As it stands, the only bonuses given are for just running cards of the same colour in sequential order. They could have done so much more with this.

Unfortunately, the game also suffers from several things that take away from the overall enjoyment.
  • The passive ability upgrades quickly make you overpowered
  • The moves eventually don’t actually matter at all
  • With enough knockback, you can avoid the swarm easily by continuously jumping back and forth over surfaces.
  • The scaling between levels feels janky but quickly gets blown away by the passive buffs.
  • There are not enough levels.

All in all, the game was fun while it lasted but lacks in replay value because of its limited scope. An interesting idea but not executed completely.

Wonderfully crafted puzzles in a beautiful world and a charming story narrative that is just enough to keep you going.

The most compelling thing about this game is the visually stunning way that the background world seamlessly interacts with the characters auras as they move around to solve the puzzles. Each level is based around a different mechanic to interact with the environment and (sometimes quite literally) propel the two characters together towards unravelling the origins of the force that is keeping them apart.

Still holds up in 2025, fully recommend.

Explores a simplistic mechanic (you must join the hands) and its over before you get bored. Worth a quick coop sesh.

Short, fun & free. No complaints.

Cool concept, really fun but too short.

Would love another map and more power ups.

This review is cursed.

Once you read it, you are cursed unless you reply below with which character you like to play as the most.

Our four unlikely heroes return to form in this outing, taking us back to the original formula of 2d platform puzzles in beautifully drawn environments. The backgrounds are stunningly rendered and filled with animated details that catch the eye and the wondrous lighting brings out the joy and charm of the world. A much improved experience from T3, the devs have delivered here exactly what we all wanted from Trine all along. The DLC is worth picking up as well, sometimes just more of the same is exactly what is needed.

This third outing into the Trine universe is the first to take us into the third dimension. Our three heroes seem to have had their abilities pared back quite a bit from previous adventures and the use of this new engine should have opened up new possibilities in terms of the puzzles but it doesn’t seem to push any boundaries. There are some nice touches and interesting ideas, the levels in the book in particular were beautifully made, but just as thing start to get interesting, it’s all over. Everything seemed to be made with the same love and care as the previous games but unfortunately due to funding, this one ended up unfinished with two more parts needed to complete the story that was planned out. Hopefully one day the devs can pick up on where this one left off, in the mean time I’m glad we still got Trine 4 & 5.

A beautifully made game that takes the impossible architecture of MC Escher and turns it into physics puzzles to captivate the mind. The concept is simple enough; the direction of gravity can be manipulated so that you can walk on any surface that you wish to. Once you get accustomed to this, the variety of puzzles within don’t leave you feeling that they are too difficult but rather that they have been wonderfully crafted. The game will make you think differently as it teaches you the constraints of the rules and also probably call to the void to try and get your bearings and reach places that usually would be unreachable. On the whole, a short but sweet and highly recommended play-through.
