Alright, since this game has gone on sale, I feel extremely obligated to write a review for what is now possibly my favourite game, even if I'm not versed in making reviews. Lobotomy Corporation is a monster management simulation and rougelite game. You're the manager of a facility of abnormalities, creatures that are strange and must be discovered about by your employees. Think of this as SCP, but with you being the manager of employees who act as D-Class, Scientists, and MTF all in one!

The Good: The game has many different abnormalities, all with their own special abilities. Many of these abnormalities can benefit the facility, such as one abnormality that heals employees that work on it. Sounds great, right? It is! But it has a downside: working on something while they're being healed by it's effect will lead to them dying immediately. A trade off you need to remember for a nice benefit. Many abnormalities have similar effects that do different things! And managing later parts of the game can feel amazing once everyone is strong enough to deal with anything.Your workers can basically become abnormalities at a certain point, and it feels good getting them there.

Not too long ago, the game had a great translation revamp. A lot of negative and even positive reviews mention how spotty the old translation was, and it was due to a shady translation team taking the money... or so I heard. Whatever the reason, a group of fans re-translated the game completely and everything reads much better now!

Because I've seen more than one negative review of the looks of the old game, I feel it needs to be stated. The game has had a visual revamp at some point, and looks far, far better now. I don't think it looked awful before, but the game definitely looks and feels much better than it did before. Some abnormalities got complete visual overhauls that look and feel much better, and some stayed the same or got minor touches to look better, and it's very noticeable when looking at legacy art.

The bad: The game is rather poorly optimized. I won't fault Project Moon completely, they were an indie dev team and it's honestly amazing they got the game this well done. But a big issue is long sessions causing memory leaks and crashes. This problem is a LOT more noticeable if you're on an older system. It's really unfortunate that it happens, but playing in shorter bursts can help mitigate this!

Another bad thing about the game is just how simply grindy it as. You need to send employees to work on abnormalities to gain stats As for myself, I don't mind the gameplay loop or grinding because I like the feeling of finally getting my employees powerful enough to deal with high-level threats, however I understand how boring and not fun grinding can be for people. It also really sucks when you have a lapse of judgement or just plain mess up and lose an employee on grind days and can suck the fun out of doing so.

Conclusion: All in all, for Lobotomy Corporation's faults, I think it's a wonderful game. The story is engaging, the characters are wonderful, and the gameplay is fun, if not a bit repetitive in your 3rd or 4th playthrough. That being said, it is EXTREMELY replayable. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys management sims, SCP, or lore rich games. I wouldn't have over 120 hours in the game if it wasn't something enjoyable to play and experience.
