I can't really explain why but it is just like everyone is saying: It's a damn good game; but just not an excellent one.

The combat, spells, attacks, parries, dodges and especially counters honestly just feels amazing, the weapons got so much power into them. It just feels good and addicting. When I'm not playing, I'm constantly just excited to get into combat again.

The story... well, I can definitely see what some people got to complain about, but for me it's still compelling. It is much that you're getting thrown into, but thanks to the "readup system" (that's how I call it) you can just pause during a dialogue and get the word that you probably don't know explained in detail, for those who're not toooo familiar with the world of Eora or Pillars of Eternity in general.
The story is definitely not letting you have a great many options to play out a scenario with dialogue, there are a few but it's not having that much of an impact like in Baldur's Gate III. But honestly for me it doesn't have to. In general I find the story interesting and I like it. It definitely doesn't feel like the most polished thing ever in places, but it's definitely good enough to keep me interested so far.

I also really enjoy the difficulty. For players who like to take it slow, there were enough options to tune the difficulty down, which is a good thing. For me personally, I love challenging combat. And oh boy, the hard mode really shows me what it's like to play spellcaster, especially when I'm a few quality levels down.
But I can totally see that a few people might have a problem with the quality system.
Basically: Yes, combat gets easier the more you're levelled up, due to your stats and damage increasing. But the "main" thing is quality. If the opponent got more quality than you, you're doing percentually less damage on them and they do percentually more on you. No matter the difficulty setting, if you're disrespecting that system, it's gonna be a really hard way for you.

One of the greatest plus points I've got besides the combat is the world. It is simply beautiful. There is no more to say. I love the artstyle and the shaders. I love the map layouts. And I definitely just love the exploration. No matter where you're going, the world is filled with treasures that are actually really rewarding, compelling side quests and puzzles/secrets to solve and find.

In terms of bugs, crashes, and performance issues: I can't complain at all. The game runs very smoothly, I've encountered no bugs so far, and had 0 crashes. Finally, a new game that got the triforce of power back and running again \o/

Overall: Really solid game. I've not seen toooooo many things yet, so if I encounter something that was not mentioned here or changes my statements about stuff, I'm gonna edit my review directly. But so far, I'm just glad that there is finally a new game I can really enjoy again. (Alongside with Monster Hunter Wilds hopefully)

I swear I'm crying, this game finally made it to PC...

I already completely inhaled the game on PS when it released and I'm such a big fan and so happy that it's finally out on PC aswell.
The optics are so hecking beautiful, and I can run it perfectly fine on 144FPS with every setting maxed out on Full HD (7800X3D, RTX 4080, 32GB RAM).
The combat feels smooth, and the story is immersive and awesomely designed. The open world is insane and every discovery you make feels extremely rewarding and... just really really good. And the parkour- and assassination system does it's job way better than the last 2 assassin's creed games combined.
The stances are well integrated for the varying types of enemies, and the variety of skills is great for fitting different playstyles.
The only downside I've got to tell about that game is that sometimes when you wanna grab a "climbing stone" or something the likes you're just plainly jumping against the wall because the grabbing system wont detect a grab point for some reason. But that's it more or less. And... I've not even really spoken about the multiplayer yet what feels like it's own game with kind off the same mechanics (which is a really positive aspect).
I think by now you can really tell that I am intensely in love with that game. For a reason. Really. Try it out. It's hecking worth it.

Early Access Review
So far, I really really enjoy it. And it's only the V 1.2.0 Early Access Release. For 30 Bucks, more than totally worth it.
Sure, a few bugs here and there, but nothing major or game-breaking. (at least for me)
Combat feels awesome, and the "Pokemon Aspect" (catching Pals and fighting with them) just feels right. I also love how you can catch or breed up the perfect team because each Pal got various Passive Skills they can roll, some good and some bad, and they even got levels. Also, I love how you can just switch attacks in and out when you need it.
The map is huuuuge (like literally, it's massive) and I like the built in world bosses and dungeons.
The dungeons are a bit one-sided, and there is no real variation in them, but they're still good to go in and catch some quick loot, pals or to just get quick XP.
In terms of base building: It's great, but the only thing that's annoying me a little bit is when you try to swap out wood structures with stone or iron, you first need to destruct the wood stuff to replace it with the other stuff. (It could be that there is an option to do that and I just didn't notice, if so let me know in the comments please!)
Also, the targetting is off sometimes. When you f.e. build 2 workbenches next to each other, there's a high probability that it will only target one of the 2, no matter if you pinpoint the other. You have to trick a little to get the right targetting.
But the aspect that really hooked me up so far is the automation and base-pal administration.
...
I just love catching and keeping sla-... cute lil fellas.
And to the guys who got the XBOX Game-Pass Version: My condolences. Get it on Steam.
Trust me, it's totally worth the money.

I didn't play much yet, but f*ck, this game feels smooth.
As a fellow RoR2 enjoyer, I can warmly recommend this one.

I just love the game. At first I didn't even really know if I liked such gameplay style and I was even kinda distant about it, since I didn't really play Divinity or the likes before and I'm home to entirely other genres, but f*ck is this game good.

The story is amazing in my opinion, as a huge D&D Fan you'll love the worldbuilding and everything. Besides already kinda knowing the drill and easy finding your way into the game, you can few Faerun in another, totally awesome view! Larian did a really good job to get everything out of the D&D setting and gift you an already familiar world with completely new twists, which work perfectly well with everything you know about the D&D world.

Even if you don't know much or anything about D&D, the storytelling is fantastic. Combat could get a few improvements since sometimes the AI is doing stuff completely random, but at most times it works perfectly fine and it's really really fun to play.

The world, story and characterbuilding is really well done. You got so many options and your choices actually influence the story and your surroundings so much it's just insane.
Even without background D&D knowledge you'll fine yourself hooked into the story and world eventually.
Took me about 110 hours to complete my first campaign in normal difficulty, because there is so much to do and so much story involved in everything, you just wanna finish up everything you can because it's actually having an impact, no matter how small the "sidequests" (at this point I even question calling them sidequests anymore) are.
Also, every choice you make and every dice you throw can lead you to totally different outcomes in the story AND your gameplay, so even the replay potential's pretty big.

Oh, and there's also a ton of romance! (But be careful, not everyone is fine with sharing you...)
Nudity options can also be turned off if wanted.

The only negative thing I can say is that some friends noticed a few bugs (release time), but Larian is working really hard to pump out bugfixes at max rate, so I got big hopes that they'll all be gone soon! (no real gamebreaking bugs, just some minor issues)

End point, the game is for you, if you love...
D&D,
a great story,
tactical round based combat,
that your choices actually matter,
or great character and worldbuilding!

9-10/10, would definitely recommend

Characters are cute and very different to play, graphic somehow reminds me of RoR2 (great game), shooting feels really nice, especially headshots, weapon diversity is great

All in All: Great Game, got it in a Sale (incl. 2 DLCs), and I think it's totally worth it.
Would recommend!

I've been playing this game since it came out on Epic Games, and all I can say is that it's really good! For those who enjoyed the System of Nioh/Nioh2 and love the classes of Final Fantasy, you will love this game.
One thing to keep in mind, despite of what others sometimes say:
IT'S NOT A REMAKE OF THE FIRST FF, IT'S A PREQUEL

The one downer on this game is that sometimes the soul scatters (executes) are taking too much weight on the GPU, and so it's sometimes in slow-mo. But a few changes to the settings and everything should be fine to those having execute Slow-Motion issues! (turn on short soul burst in the settings)

Also, the story is amazing, looking at the end-scenes. It fits perfectly well as a prequel, with a few really unexpected twists!

As long as you don't have some weird fetishes to play a freaking souls-like game with mouse and keyboard, it's extremely enjoyable. The only downside I've encountered so far: Framerate issues in the first two levels. Thankfully not during bossfights or any other level (at least non-stop), there they went smoothly with 120 FPS steady. Parry system is well implemented and feels really really good. Weapons are not 1 on 1 copied from Nioh/Nioh2, what gives it a new twist. Morale system is awesome, and everything feels well thought. Overall great Souls-Like Experience.
Story got something familiar with Nioh 2's, but let's see, I've not come too far yet.

Endpoint of the review: If a performance patch comes out, this game will be insanely good. And for Mouse + Keyboard players, I hope that the controls will be fixed. But seriously, try gamepads. You make it sound like it's hell to play with them...
