Really enjoying this game. If you are even a remote fan of the 40K universe and/or DOOM you will very much enjoy this game. Great weapons, gameplay, and characters from the 40K universe. Anyone familiar with the lore will instantly recognize many of the game aspects.

Weapons are very fun and satisfying to use, especially the namesake Bolter or Boltgun. They are also upgradable adding yet another fun element to the combat.

Level design is good but can get a bit repetitive. The gameplay makes up for this though and you never feel it is tedious with just enough variety to keep any veteran FPS player occupied.

Campaign length is just about right. I think I'm right about at the mid point, 12.5 hours in. Of course other players may finish quicker but I'm the type that has to look in virtually every nook and cranny.

My only gripe is that I wish the chainsword, a very important weapon in the game, was not so clunky and animated a bit better. I think the original DOOM did a better job of this with the chainsaw. The chainsword can a bit clunky and awkward to use. The animation could use a few more frames.

I bought the game on sale and for the price I paid, I think I got a really good deal. The game is refined, polished, bug free (from what I saw) and priced appropriately.

Best action shooter in years. Even better than Doom 2016 and that is saying a lot. Great mechanics and gun play. It will challenge the best FPS players but not so much that it is frustrating...also, you can always change difficulty if too hard or too easy.

Stable gameplay, no crashes.

Controls are solid as with all Doom games due to limited movement and no need to reload. Crouch was removed which is a plus.

Visually, the environments are hauntingly beautiful and scary as hell at the same time.

Difficulty is spot on. Probably a bit easier than 2016 given the same difficulty level comparison.

All in all, they really nailed it with this one. A worthy addition to the DOOM franchise.

Pros:
-Glorious slaying!!!
-Awesome gameplay
-Gorgeous backdrop
-Fair levelling system
-Crouch removed
-Great balance of fun and challenge

Cons:
-Might get overwhelmed with all the power up options and special features
-A bit too "platformy" at times. This is not a parkour type game like Dying Light.

First off, I'm very glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews and made the decision to buy this game.

As a lover of Fallout 4 and Borderlands, if the two had a baby this is what you'd get.

The game is visually stunning with the artwork being somewhat in the middle of reality and the style seen in the aforementioned Borderlands series. The landscapes are gorgeously done with alien fauna and the skyscapes are breathtaking on Ultra.

Gameplay is pretty straight forward with more dialogue choices than Fallout 4 but not too many to be annoying. You can persuade, intimidate, etc just like the Bethesda games.

Combat can be a bit clunky at time lacking the smoothness of Borderlands, most likely in an effort to add a bit of realism to it.

The inventory system is great and easy to use, with a click drag system. The menu is well organized and intuitive enough that any RPG player will appreciate.

The game is very stable with short load times and no crashes or bugs I've encountered yet.

Overall, a great experience and a game I will be playing for hours to come...

First off, know that Roguelites/Roguelikes are not for everyone. If you're new to the genre you may have a hard time with this game.

Second, a lot of people are comparing it to Freelancer. It is NOTHING like Freelancer. If anything Everspace 2 is more like Freelancer and note that Everspace and Everspace 2 are also nothing like eachother.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let's begin. Where do I start?

Well first off, the game is breathtakingly gorgeous, especially considering that you really don't need a powerful system to run this nicely. I'm not sure how low you can go though, since I'm currently running an i9 / 3060ti based system.

Progression through the game for each run is very well balanced, with more powerful enemies and dangers lurking closer to the end of each run. This makes it easier to upgrade your ship as you progress through the system.

While on the subject of progression, it's nice that, although it's a roguelike and when you die, that's it, there is still a base system to upgrade both your pilot and your ships, allowing you to focus on your favorite ship rather than go into battle with a brand new one every time.

The game can be controlled just as well with a controller as it can with mouse/kb for anyone that has had any time at all using the latter.

Stability is not an issue at all. I have over 1000 hours in the game between a couple accounts and have not once had a CTD or any game killing bugs.

Overall a 9.5/10 ~ the only thing I wish is that there was an endless mode that allowed you to progress beyond the set amount of sectors. Being a roguelike that would be an easy implementation I would think.

Probably the closest any first person action game comes to being perfect. Awesome characters, great quests, looting, crafting and skill trees. The added element of parkour makes it that much more fun and unique.

All the needed elements of an open world RPG and more. Huge maps and never a dull moment going from point A to point B.

Reminds me of Far Cry but WAAAYYYY better and w/o the 3rd party DRM. And that's saying something as I really really enjoy the Far Cry series.

Being a huge fan of both Warhammer 40,000 and FPS, I'm used to disappointing/limited choices when the two are paired. I've played Deathwing extensively and even played the little known game Fire Warrior which will soon pass 20 years (hard to believe)...neither has impressed me.

I must say that disappointment has ENDED with this game. It is fabulously executed and tons of fun.

As others have noted and you are probably aware, this game is VERY similar to DOOM in pace and gunplay. Your character runs around like he's on crack and there is no "stealth" or walk button to be found. Frankly, I'm surprised you can even crouch in the game to be honest. There is still plenty of cover to use to kill the pace when needed and give your character a much needed break.

There's a perfect variety of weapons, not too much and not too little and the gun effects and sounds are great on a good sound system or pair of headphones with satisfying audio that punches through and really gives that impression of hard hitting ballistics. Tons of upgrade options are available for those interested in doing so.

Enemies, while not a group of John Wicks, provide a decent challenge, especially on hard and above. The enemy is cunning and It's very easy to get swarmed or shot in the back if you aren't careful.

The upgrade system is robust and intuitive, although the buy/sell mechanism can be clunky at times and confusing for new players.

Finally...the visuals are stunning on Ultra. I run a 3060 ti, which is MORE THAN ENOUGH for this game, which can be run on much lesser GPUs. I love the little touches such as the animated candle flames on the pause menu. When you look at touches like this, it makes you appreciate the detail put into the game.

If there was one thing that bothered me is that you sometimes forget that this is a Warhammer 40,000 game. This can be either a good or bad thing, depending on your view of the universe or your investment in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. This is more likely due to the limited coverage of Hive worlds, lorewise, rather than fault of the game. Nevertheless, you are often reminded of where you are as many buildings, decor, and entities remind you that you are, indeed in the 40k universe.

Even at full price, the game is well worth it.
If Darktide is anywhere near as good as this, I'll be more than happy to sign up for that one too!

In summary...

PROS
Combat pace
Gun mechanics and sound
Visuals
Challenge
Replayability
Enemy design
Level of detail/nice touches

CONS
Sometimes does not feel like a Warhammer 40,000 game
Can be a bit confusing in the beginning
Menu navigation can be challenging
Store/Upgrade mechanics take a bit of getting used to
Many have complained about bugs. I've yet to encounter any...

I have to agree with the other reviewers who have questioned the hate on this DLC.

While certainly not the best, it is far from the worst (Bounty of Blood)

This features excellent layout and design. The banter between the two Kriegs is interesting and humorous.

Where it suffers is the recycling of bosses and characters and lack of originality. C'mon...evil Lilith, Brick and Mordecai? You can do a lot better than that. This is definitely where the laziness took over.

I'd give it a 7/10 which means it earns a thumbs up from me.

AND WHY THE F*** DOES IT SAY 0 HOURS. WHAT THE F***ING HELL IS THIS? FIX THIS DAMN HOUR COUNTER FOR F*** SAKE.
...sorry, Torgue rant over

Have to love a game where a guy can run around the battlefield full speed with the following items in his backpack:

A heavy bolter or autocannon
About 20ft of barb wire (that's 6m for most of you)
About 30 sandbags
A gigantic box of ammo
Another GUY!

Imperial Guard heavy weapons team, I'm looking at YOU

Note: My hours have mostly been offline on this game.

Decent, fun, fast side scroller that should appeal to fans of the genre. Not as deep a game like Jets n Guns Gold but few are. Not difficult either (bordering on easy) and easily played with KB and mouse (though I prefer this method of controls to any other).

Great weapon effects, customization and mech designs keep the game interesting. 4 game modes adds to the fun as well as the replayability. Although I have not participated, I’m sure 4 player co-op is also blast.

Some of the levels are simply gorgeous and you can tell the developers took a lot of time on them.

Probably the strongest part of the game is the attention put to the upgrade path and skill tree. With several options and paths, you can customize your warrior to your liking.

I agree with all the tags applied to this game except for bullet hell. This is NOT a bullet hell game by any stretch of the imagination. Enemy fire is sparse, slow and easy to dodge which leads me to one of the faults of the game is that it really is not hard enough. Enemies are plodding and predictable and your ship, even when not upgraded, is a bullet sponge.

Characters are not funny with unnecessary presence and narration. If not included, they probably would not even be missed. You can tell there were attempts at humor which just don’t go over well.

I would have liked to see some kind of heat management system. There are literally no consequences to holding down both mouse buttons throughout an entire level.

Is it a good game? Yes. Is it a great game? No, not by any means. It is not without it’s flaws but overcomes these with a great fun factor, game modes, and replayability, which is very important to me as a person who puts a lot of hours into games that generally don't get a lot of hours from other people. Unfortunately, the biggest blemish against it is that it really looks like the developers spent more time on the visuals rather than focusing on the mechanics, gameplay, and story, except for the level progression, which is well done.

I was a bit surprised when I used the windows key to exit the game and came back to find myself dead. I would have assumed the game would have paused but this isn’t that big of a deal, just a bit surprising.

I recommend the game but with reservations. A strong candidate to pick up during sales…

6/10

Pros
Fun Factor
Fun powerups
Good character (mech) design
Weapons customization
Well thought out upgrade path
Sound
Beautiful Scrolling landscapes/backgrounds
Game Modes

Cons
Too easy at times
No heat management system
Underwhelming enemy design
Ineffective enemies
Unnecessary, uninspiring, forgettable characters
Predictable/repetitive level structure
