[w/ SPOILERS]Here's a review of what you'll be getting in the game. Pros part will focus on a semi rose-tinted glasses type thing while cons will be the opposite of it. Note that this was written after Beyond Light's release, and things may change later.

PROS:
-Regarding to Open World/Seasons
1)Story levels are ok. Not bad, but not sometimes lacks storytelling. Game encourages you to do the post-campaign quests as well after you finish up the main campaign, which is ok for me.
2)New-New Light quests look fun, better than the 2019 New Light tutorial-ish quest. You'll be learning the enviroment, who's who and what you'll be doing in the game. Overall, better than the old one.
3)Personally, I liked the new season system. Apart from the old one(S8 to S11), most of the content in the season will be there for a year(aka 4 seasons). This can encourage people who didn't like the old seasonal system and still suffered from content drought.
4)Leveling system is now semi-easier than before, considering that powerful drops will now drop all the way until you reach powerful/hard cap.
5)Cosmodrome is back(smaller than D1)
6)A new Pursuit weapon and its ornaments are available, now with an option to get it from one of three core playlists(strikes, gambit or crucible)

-Regarding to DLCs
7)Forsaken is still the best DLC with all the campaign, post campaign, locations and lore.
8)Shadowkeep is... uhhh... nevermind
9)Beyond Light(newest DLC) is better than Shadowkeep, but can't compete with Forsaken with content. Europa is massive and looking magnificent with the whole weather system. BL's Glassway strike is better than Shadowkeep's Scarlet Keep strike, and it isn't painfully long. Empire Hunts are a nice addition with a *chance* to earn Cloudstrike exotic sniper. Also, Statis slaps.

-Regarding to Raids/Core Playlist
10)Stasis singe and 2 new strikes to strike pool is... better than nothing?
11)Gambit and Gambit Prime's merge into a single, ultimate mode of Gambit is perfect. All good aspects of both playlists in one.
12)Let's not talk about Crucible(ahem, Stasis, ahem). Also, Iron Banner and Trials aren't out yet, so... skip it
13)Deep Stone Crypt looks fabulous. Haven't had a chance to play it though.

CONS:
-Regarding to Open World/Seasons
1)Non-replayable story quests. Most of the post campaign quests were time-gated, but I'm sure they're all available now after raid was cleared.
2)New Light quests are like 1 and a half hour long. So, this isn't fully a campaign/story.
3)Season of the Hunt lacks aspiration to play the season. I'm not sure who'll keep grinding its weapons next season.
4)Leveling system is still just a lazy way to force you to play core playlists nonstop.
5)We lost 4 destinations, and got Europa and Cosmodrome.
6)New pursuit weapon, Adored, is a reskin of Beloved, a gun that PvP'ers loved and got sunsetted.

-Regarding to DLCs
7)Forsaken's legendary loots got sunsetted and lost their value.
8)Shadowkeep's loot also got sunsetted, but I personally never liked it anyways.
9)Beyond Light is expensive for some players, and they're right arguing about it. Stasis came with BL and it's the top subclass choice for all gamemodes.

-Regarding to Raids/Core Playlists
10)Even though we'll get two original strikes from D1 in Year 4, strike playlist seems so repetitive. Daily Heroic Story Missions going away is also a big yikes for me.
11)People are still skeptical about gambit, and it affects the overall player base.
12)Crucible is a trashcan set on fire. Even though Warlock Shadebinder got nerfed/optimized, it's like living hell sometimes. If you're low light, stay away from Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris when they come out.
13)With Leviathan raids gone, all current raids are tied to DLCs. Vault of Glass is returning in Year 4, but it's not clear if it's going to be tied to Beyond Light/Current Season or FFA.

Congrats if you made all the way through here. Now you know what to expect and not to expect.
