As a roguelike I think the game loop lacks balance, it feels like if you get in the deeper levels it's because you were lucky to find OP items and it's not really rewarding you based on your decision making, but perhaps your shooting on timing skills and aiming skills will get you through the levels, I personally didn't get much enjoyment from grinding because your choices on items don't really seem to be rewarded nor structured nor balanced, the items you get are very random and totally dependent on rng.

The music is nice but can get repetitive.
Sound design is nice too, though one issue is that the character you're controlling will make some noises as you jump or strafe which can be mistaken as taking damage.

Sometimes you'll enter the room and a small enemy will spawn to your right or left outside of your field of view and you'll take damage instantly.

The enemies design isn't anything fancy, they're kinda basic in their movements and behaviour and you can avoid their attacks by strafing and running around in circles.

The graphics: there's an annoying over-saturated red/orange filter, which you can tone down if you go into the settings but it just seems like a poor stylistic choice choice that reduces readability(it's hard to distinguish enemies over the scenery at times).

There's an easy mode and an option to even disable having to shoot on timing, yet the easy mode still remains fairly hard, so you can't even have it easy if you just want to have fun.

Other than that it's good, I am sure many people will enjoy the game if they don't mind the grinding and what in my opinion is too random and not very rewarding design.

Easily my all time favorite rogue-like platformer.

This game is very challenging and might seem unforgiving at first but it is not, when you start, you are just going to stumble upon every single lethal traps and possible combinations of bad actions that will lead to your instant harsh death.

So you might hate it at first, however once you start to learn from your mistakes and how to avoid or fight enemies, obstacles and traps, you will get to access deeper parts of the game, grab better gear and it will feel extremely rewarding because this game isn't about memorizing the layout but anticipating possible pitfalls from previous experience and from your ability to made quick and smart decisions but also long term decisions such as managing your bombs and ropes.

As you improve your spelunking skills you will realize how much more depth the game has than you previously thought and how well designed it is.

The levels are procedurally generated, so while the themes of the levels and enemies have a general structure, the paths, positions, quantity of items and enemies do change every time you restart, this makes the game a lot more interesting as it challenges your ability to improvise and anticipate.

The game also offers optional paths and shortcuts, different endings and overall just varied play styles.

Sometimes you will be given a layout with many resources, tools and weapons and in other cases a layout might have very little resources or weapons, so you will have to adapt and be more careful with your starting resources (bombs/ropes).
While sometimes a layout can seem bad, it may become better if you keep progressing and it might surprise you with a special opportunity or item.

The game does have a slight bit of gambling but your experience, choices, actions and determination are what will ultimately define if you'll be able to "beat" the game or not.

If you're really having a hard time making any progress, reading some guides helps but don't spoil yourself the deepers parts of the mines you haven't gotten to yet.
I wouldn't consider it cheating to get some help from guides as you still need to remember all the traps, enemy behavior etc and make the proper choices in the moment on your own as the layout is always unique.

This game is full of surprises, accidental chains of events that happen with items bouncing around triggering traps or hitting an enemy leading to hilarious deaths or events, which again, you can avoid if you anticipate.
This is one of the things that make the game so great, the interaction between the player, items and enemies with its physics often creates new situations and you will always see something new happening even have hundreds of hours of play.

It took me a lot of hours to beat the game, but the feeling of satisfaction and completion is unlike any other game, this game takes "work" to beat, you have to outsmart the game and top yourself every time you make a new run, its a game that requires you to think, no hand holding but that's why its so rewarding, if you beat it, you sure as hell earned that victory.

The game also has collectibles, with a diary that records every item you found during your adventures, enemies you killed etc for the fans of collecting items and achievements, this game is probably one of the most challenging, if you manage to get them all, props to you :)

Finally the visuals and character design is great, music is fantastic, catchy and there's even some rare special tracks which are even better, will you find them?

Great graphics and nice audio, stunning for the first 30 minutes, but it falls short, the game is simplistic and has repetitive gameplay.

I thought I would give this game a shot at least for the fancy visuals but the pacing is so slow and the gameplay so simplistic that the visuals won't save this game.

The gameplay consists of going to point A where you are told something is broken and you need to go to points B C D to repair the broken thing by simply pressing a button in each of those places, getting to each place takes 5 minutes or more of just slowly and painfully floating around while sometimes looking for oxygen canisters to refill your space suit in order to survive and waiting for doors to slowly open.

There are no puzzles, no problem solving and no thinking involved, no events, no conflicts, the game just drags you from a point to another to press a simple button while finding and playing some audio recordings that tell a bit of the story and systems of the space station re-activate and animate as you repair them, that's it.

The ambience audio can be pretty repetitive at times and really makes things even more boring and annoying.

Interacting with doors or other things requires to hold the F key for a few seconds, while waiting for an animations to play, waiting extra time to regain control after the door has been wide open for a few seconds... it kills the flow and it could be all in one key press instead without locking the player's controls.

The control and movement is slow and touching any wall ceiling or floor at slow speeds damages your suit and punishes the player, why? it would have been much more fun being able to move faster and bouncing off walls with your legs and arms like real astronauts sometimes do, then again if the movement system was faster the game would be very short but at least moving around might have been fun.

The navigation map is a mess, the game is often confusing as to what the objective is or where it is.

ADR1FT should have either chosen to focus on the experience of exploring and experiencing the environment freely with the backstory playing as you go around OR being a game with actual depth to its mechanics.

Short but fantastic atmospheric puzzle platformer with outstanding visuals, physics, top notch sound design and great story which is left for the player to puzzle together and perhaps make your own interpretations.
If you enjoyed LIMBO you will enjoy this even more.

The pacing is great, the game is immersive and while the puzzles felt easier than in the developer's predecessor game Limbo, they're a whole lot more interesting/clever/original and rewarding than in Limbo.

The levels and puzzles are varied and the mechanics to solve puzzles evolve in how you can use them as you progress through the story, it feels organic rather than reusing mechanics, Inside challenges the player to find a new way to use a piece of the puzzle differently to solve a new problem, some of the "keys" to solve puzzles even tie into the story and serve to tell the story.

The controls are responsive and the way the character reacts to the environment with a mix of physics and animation is surprisingly lifelike and beautifully done, the animation/physics on the character in the last few chapters is even more stunning and a great metaphor but I will leave it to that, not to spoil anything.

As fallacious as it may sound to use this word, I have to say, this game is a masterpiece, sure, its short, but you are not paying for the time, you are paying for a high quality experience, the stunning visuals, sound and design, its clear TONS of work, polish and attention to detail went into making this game.

Go blind, don't watch other people play the game, its a one time experience, its immersive and its best to discover and experience it for yourself.

A very relaxing game, great and innovative gameplay concept with many game modes, accompanied by wonderful soundtracks and the visuals.
