This game has several elements that significantly disrupt immersion. First, the presence of child characters that cannot be harmed, whether accidentally or intentionally, dulls the realistic feel of the game. Players who know where these children appear can act violently without hesitation, undermining the careful playstyle that others had maintained until that point.

Second, the facility for filming child pornography, which should have been shocking for players to discover, turns out to be filled with completely legal and non-criminal photographs. While players may understand the situation, they might also come to see it as trivial. I understand that if actual illegal images were used, the game would become illegal, so I can accept this to some extent. However, it’s undeniable that this aspect disrupts immersion in the game.

Third, it’s common knowledge that most mass shootings in the U.S. occur in high schools. Yet, the mission involving a mass shooting is set in a college attended by 'adults.' From the moment this mission was revealed, I found it impossible to immerse myself in it.

I empathize with the important messages the creators want to convey through this game, but I believe their self-censorship has diminished its weight, impact, and resonance. While 'Ready or Not' aims to use shock therapy, the element of 'shock' is largely absent.
