the three games hit different when played together like in this anthology. ME1 re-done is everything i wanted from a great (but flawed) first entry into the franchise, and the whole thing is still one of the best sci-fi stories written in a hot minute.

These pixel remasters are such lovely love letters to the old games. Highly recommend them all.

Although it's arguably the weakest game in the pixel remaster series of 1 through 6, it's still worth a play to experience it.

DO:
-look up guides on what not to miss if you want to complete all the achievements.
-be prepared to grind a little because of old school game design

There are things you can permanently miss if you're trying to do a completionist achievable run, so, be advised.

It's great - a lot of creature comforts, be warned that there's still some old gameplay conventions that some may find frustrating. It's nostalgic if you've played it before; It's frustrating if you've never played the older games. Just look up a guide for sure and save yourself the pain.

This is a really great strategy game, a lot like Chess in execution - replay value is among the highest I've ever had. Absolutely recommend.

Overall I'd recommend - the game makes you make tough decisions (which you might feel badly about).
...anyway it was enjoyable. Sort of like civ but more difficult.

The game operates on a... slippery slope, like a losing battle pretense - it's about managing the difficult things and making do with what limitations you have rather than getting ahead like you can in Civ, say.
I tried to be nice and save all the refugees for example, but that’s difficult - creates additional load that you have to manage before the next crisis sorta thing.

Anyway 7/10 overall - game wise when the city gets big it’s hard to keep track of all the ♥♥♥♥, but it looks freakin’ gorgeous and the soundtrack had me all sweaty-palmed (epic cello/orchestral thriller music), the sound design was nothing to write home about but neither did I find it offensive, the gameplay was cool but I felt like the scope clearly had gotten scaled back from where they may have originally wanted to take it.

so: buy it on sale, it’s wurf

also: suspend your disbelief at the science of steampunk-era people surviving in -90 C and below, since at like -100 C a couple breaths of air would induce massive hemorrhaging in your lungs. Art in the game could have addressed that but they didn’t so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

After having played through this game some time ago, I still think about it and wish there was more to the adventure.

It's fantastic, truly a joy to play. Challenging, but the sense of accomplishment of completing a challenge is wonderful. The game punishes you, but doesn't punish you too much for failing - a good balance between the old-school and the new.

Take the plunge - it's worth it.
