Still the best and most fun looter-shooter available.

Although the game was plagued with technical issues and lack of polish on release, it seems quite stable now.

Battletech is a turn based strategy game. You control a small elite force on a tactical and strategic layer to the game; balancing finances, risk/reward, and a roster of customizable battle mechs and pilots. If you enjoyed XCOM or games like it, you will enjoy Battletech. This game is essentially a "port" of the tabletop rules directly onto a game engine, so if you're familiar with the Battletech tabletop game you won't have issues here. The UI is very nicely designed, although some things are not explained as well as I would like.

As of now the only thing lacking is some of the very iconic mechs (due to timeline the game is set in) and a memorial for fallen soldiers. I'm not done the campaign yet and I feel like I still have quite a ways to go, but so far the story is fairly enjoyable.

Unfortunately a game which was great fun at release now has as many DLCs as a train simulator and microtransactions - something the devs promised not to do. Gameplay is fun but the fact that newer gun packs are straight upgrades over the base game content is wrong. Additionally I don't think anyone should support a developer who will flat out lie to their community.

A big, open world (which is incredibly well done in terms of visual storytelling) sets the backdrop to an engaging and just plain fun romp through the ruins of Australia. Very much like Shadow of Mordor foot combat meets Far Cry style bases and objectives, with excellent vehicle customization and combat. I would definately recommend this game to anyone looking for a solid and fun open world adventure.

Pros:
-Good car combat
-Great optimization and visuals
-Solid feeling foot combat
-Great use of the Mad Max IP

Cons:
-Still some bugs post-release, although so far only immersion breaking ones
-Voice acting and animation on the minor NPCs is not so great
-A few tasks can feel very dull or repetitive

Overall one of the surpisingly great games of the year so far. Released to little media fanfare or advertising but definately not a game to pass up.

Easily one of my favourite RTS games of all time, love the campaign, love the skirmish, love the last stand mode. If you're a fan of RTS, and particularily of the 40k universe, this game is a must buy.
