I will echo the sentiment of RagnarRox, for your first playthrough I can highly recomend playing on the nightmare difficulty. It might sound dumb, but it will truly enhance the experience, just don't feel forced to keep the difficulty high :)

Lovely game, easily enjoyable to play either solo or with friends. The many items to find can give you suprises when you kill an enemy!
