I can't remember the last time a game had me as hooked as this one. For turned based games which really aren't my favorite in the first place (and I'm thinking of Baldur's Gate 3 specifically as an example which I actually really liked btw), I usually find myself getting kind of bored with my playthrough. For BG3, I even took a long break before I went back and finished it. There wasn't a single time I was bored with this game and I usually get BORED easily (dopamine destroyed brain oops). I think it really is as simple as the addition of a great combat system that actually lets you do something instead of watching animations play out. And pairing that with the excellent music, voice acting, story, build crafting system, etc. and you really have something special. I rarely read any notes and journals for any game and here I listened and read along with every single word. Exploring had me excited, especially once you unlock each stage of transportation. Only thing I wished the game had was a loadout system. My Maelle had around 350 lumina by the end of the game and it would be a hassle going through and switching her perks for a tank build or something else.

PEAK GAME.

Game is addicting as hell and rage inducing. I've lost so many bases from one zombie sneaking through my defenses it's crazy. It has a pretty sharp learning curve, but learning from your mistakes will get you through the maps. The map generation can get a bit iffy at times like when your command center spawns only near a river with hardly any tree or stone deposits and two doom villages are 50 blocks away on either side. The difficulty is immensly high when that happens and you are better off just starting a new save at that point. I feel like tidiness of the colony is pretty important. You realize you probably should've had a better layout when you witness your force of 50 snipers walk entirely around your base in order to meet the wave, and then watch in despair as they bunch up and block each other as the colony falls. Improper use of resources throughout the game will earn you a loss in the end as well. I haven't gotten to map 3 yet, but I'm a bit scared. Fun game.

When that ball reaches Maximum Overdrive Stage 200 and is STILL getting charged up, you know someone is gonna have a bad time.

I have a love/hate relationship with this game. It sucks at times... well a lot of the time. But then you get those moments where the game isn't taking a ♥♥♥♥ on your chest and you think to yourself, "Wow, that was pretty fun." Oh yeah, Daybreak, please fix your game instead of releasing your cancer crates.

Live out your dreams of fighting for ISIS. Don't put me on a watch list now please I am kidding.

I literally only play the Warhammer mod because I can't afford Total War: Warhammer, but honestly thats okay because it's awesome. Oh yeah, never have touched vanilla.
