As someone playing this who is not a fan of Harry Potter, all things considered it is a fun game. There are a few issues with it that should be noted tho.

First of all it seems to want you to engage in "combo" combat, whereas I found the most effective way to play was to continuously doge while attacking between the dodges, leaving a very underwhelming feeling for combat, sure I could just not play that way, but it's so effective why wouldn't I?

Secondly, The story is just kinda "meh" as I've said I am not a Harry Potter fan so maybe some of it was lost on me, but it felt like they tried to tell a story that wasn't very engaging.

Third, useless ideas clutter the game, there is no need for potion making, growing plants or the requirement room (involving decorating and breeding animals), but I guess they are expected in a Harry Potter game so here they are. They just take time away from an otherwise fun experience.

Fourth, the fast travel system (exclusively within the castle here) doesn't feel good. Isn't the castle supposed to be my "home" by the end of the game I should be able to navigate it without a map or dotted line on the map. The optimal way is to quickly teleport to the nearest available location in the castle, so you never really get to know it, it exists as a game place, not a place you actually know.

Fifth and final, you can't use spells on other students/ teachers, come on game, I just want to torture people, why can't you let me have fun, even if they made it so it punished you for doing so, at least let me. You're allowed to be an ass for a lot of the other game, why can I only torture "bad" people? This includes not being able to join the poachers (a major disappointment, LET ME SKIN ANIMALS ALIVE, its a game I don't care about them).

All that said I really enjoyed the game, so why a negative review? well, hand in hand with problem number 5, you cannot torture or kill a certain character (you know which one). Which ruins the game right there.

Typically don't like "cyber-ish" games, but this one was great. really enjoyed it.

Catching bugs in a swamp. AWWWW YEAH

Thought this would be a game about being a guy in a firewatch tower. But its really not, it's a game that takes place while you are in the middle of nowhere and a firewatch tower just does the job for the (IMO non-engaging) story it wants to tell. It wants to tell a story not be a cool wilderness exploration game.

Dull, unimaginative game, that does something that has been done before many time, and many times better. Writing is meh, the characters are annoying and unlikable (I'm glad they all died, they just didn't suffer enough) , the pixel graphics look okay but make it hard to make out what anything is supposed to be. It feels like it's trying to be a meaningful game, but fails spectacularly.

good game, only bad part is no spaghetti.

DLC prices are awful, and each one adds more achievements. If you want to keep this at 100% achievements be prepared to shell out $$$ to these greedy bastards.

No, you're a boring, dull experience that does nothing interesting or neat. Just a waste of time and money. Don't buy into the whole "this game means so much" BS.
