Would recommend getting-blown-up-by-yelling-aliens-simulator 2011. 10/10

JK. The game is really fun, but the beginning levels can seem a bit rocky due to only getting a sledgehammer and a pistol for two levels while in the older Serious Sam games you'd start with a pistol and get a shotgun within the first level. Once you get past the first few levels the game really kicks up though, with huge open deserts and no render-distance fog blocking anything from your view.

Serious Engine 3.5 runs great even with having to render so many polygons on each character, and having those characters come in swarms of dozens, even hundreds. It puts other engines to shame really. There's tons of options for you to change, so you can get the maximum performance while keeping the looks of the game from going soupy low-res.

Still has 16 player simultaneous co-op, which means you can invite your friends, your enemies, that one dude who always stays in his house doing god knows what.

Sublime soundtrack, each piece captures the setting and intensity of the situation you're in.

Multiplayer is a bit rough if you're not based in a European region as that seems to be where you get the most players.

Steam Workshop support, which means you can easily install/uninstall mods.

Early Access Review
Even from the relatively small amount of this game I've played (compared to a lot of other players) I have to say it's an extremely fun and enjoyable experience. Mouse movements are responsive, with enemies getting killed in ways you know for sure they did. The boosting mechanic allows for great wall-hopping which can make for some spectacular air-shots on enemy players who prefer the ground. Customization options for players, the HUD and maps are nice as well.

Ratz Instagib's soundtrack is a bit too soft for this game in my opinion, but it can suit the game well in several moments. If you want a game soundtrack that fits this game more I'd try out Cube 2: Sauerbraten's songs as they're in the metal category. The game runs solid with over 190+ FPS on my setup and I've never experienced any lag issues on my own end.

Ratz Instagib is exactly what I want from a rail-gun arena shooter and more. Give it a try even if you're not too sure about the name and looks as I'm sure you'll have fun. There's even a survival mode against robots if you don't want to fight against enemy players.
