I saw the reviews and thought 'It's on sale, I'll just race in nice cars in a fun city, no expectations'. But wow did it fall below even absent expectations.

First, of course, a random NFS or Forza game has more in common with the TDU than this.

Second, it's boring. Nothing much to do, except for a few repetitive races. No plot. No side missions. No scripted events. Next to no styling for cars (there wasn't any in the TDU, so I guess yay to sticking to the original at least somewhere). There's even very little cars in the roster to collect.

Third, the game adjusts difficulty as you win some races and never goes back. After about 20-30 races it settles at 'Expert', where it becomes near impossible to even keep up. And there is no 'Restart' function for most (single player!) races: you have to 'Abandon', return to the street, join the race again, choose a car again, set it up again, wait for the race to start again – all that just to be crushed by AI in a minute, again.

Playing it just doesn't feel rewarding in any way.

Still better than all battle royale games combined.
