Played on Gentoo Linux using a 7950X3D/7900XTX rig.
Ideal config for this game seems to be locking framerate to 72fps while using FSR Performance mode for upscaling. Graphical fidelity doesn't take THAT much of a hit from upscaling, but it would be much nicer if it ran better at 4k native.
At 10 hours in, the solo campaign has been pretty easy using a weapon I haven't touched since MH1 on the PS2 (the greatsword), but now that I am getting further in and seeing the more interesting new monsters things are getting to be much more enjoyable. Graphically, the game is at its best when the regions are in the "Plenty" state, but this means you won't see that until after you've basically finished a story beat for that region so the initial graphical impressions have been pretty poor thanks to an overuse of volumetric fog (which can be disabled, but will make weather effects looks quite silly).
No crashes or system freezes on Linux anymore, which was my main problem with the Beta build until Proton Experimental (bleeding-edge) had an update that seemingly fixed this issue. Game is also running better for me on Linux than on Windows 10 for my 7900XTX setup.
I recommend against using the high-resolution texture pack DLC as it is 70GB in size and will use up 24GB+ of VRAM causing issues when it gets too full.
EDIT: It seems TU1 updates DirectStorage which breaks Proton usage. You can fix this by downloading the old 1.2.2 DirectStorage binaries (https://www.nuget.org/api/v2/package/Microsoft.Direct3D.DirectStorage/1.2.2) and throwing them into the game's root directory, and optionally set them as read-only so they don't get updated and freeze your PC.

Kernel-level rootkit added to the game. Refund it if you can :^).

Early Access Review
Crashes sometimes but from my understanding the current legacy game is getting a major overhaul.
Very enjoyable nonetheless and works relatively well on Linux via Proton.

Roughly 40 hours of content from all bosses, areas, and quests. DLC update broke EAC for Proton users so it was all done offline as a result.
World felt big but also really empty at times. Kept asking myself what the purpose behind a lot of enemy placements were when the loot they were defending was generally a basic crafting item or upgrade item that I could purchase at the roundtable.
Bosses are challenging but likely much easier if you use the early-obtainable deflect flask tear, since that helped immensely for the final boss.
I sincerely hope From's next game isn't open world since that didn't seem to add much to this experience.
Overall got my money's worth from one playthrough so far.

Currently requires multiple workarounds on Linux. Also currently causing total system freezing/crashing/hanging on RDNA3 after certain cutscenes.

Very fun! Works great on Linux!
Singleplayer has more bullethell patterns while co-op throws in mechanics that center around other players, so both provide a unique experience.
Static mouse + attack hotkeys feels really nice to use (big thanks to the dev for reverting a change made when Lunar difficulty went live that had undone auto-recentering).
Lots of UI customization available which is great to see.

One of the best games to come out in 2024 that's for sure.

While playing on Linux via Proton on RDNA3, the driver tends to hang quite often especially when going into the menu. Requires a full system reboot to remedy. Can't recommend until that gets solved.
