overkill sells a game and dlc then nerfs all weapons into oblivion so you have to buy keys to get random skins that boost stats on guns from safe drops

there was no way this idea could possibly backfire.

I really wanted to like this game. I really did.

Pros:
+Looks pretty nice
+Micheal Bay's wet dream in terms of explosions per minute.
+Fully destructible environment
+Cool vehicle designs
+Some interesting weapons that may have been done better elsewhere
+Fairly difficult.

Cons:
- Controls feel sluggish.
- Missions and Guerilla Actions are tedious and repetitive.
- Story is dumb as hell
- Driving feels off, not really sure how else to phrase it
- Cover mechanics in a fully destructible enviroment are kinda dumb
- Game world is neither interesting nor varied
- Game was released in 2009 and still has infinitely respawning enemies (depending on alert level)- not just driving up in vehicles, but appearing from around a corner.
- Action does not feel fluid, nor does shooting. It all feels very sluggish and disjointed.

I guess this game is comparable to Far Cry 2: It's got a lot of really cool ideas and engine features, but the game itself is nothing more than a vehicle for the developer to demonstrate that stuff. I feel like "The Saboteur" or Just Cause 2 are similar games that are much, much better as actual games.

I'll keep this short. One of the best score attack games EVER made. Intuitive, insanely fun (once you pick up on what to do), and it has nice graphics and a pretty good soundtrack. If you aren't in to score attack games, stay away. If you like them, this should be an an instant buy.

The game looks and sounds great, and has solid core gameplay. On paper, it should be fantastic. However, the execution is much more flawed. The game tries to tie the gameplay of God of War/DmC and the Legend of Zelda together, but instead of focusing on one and borrowing flavor from the other, it tries to mash them together in such a way that is detrimental to the game as a whole.

The game was not fun to play, which is by far its biggest issue. While it seems more like a Zelda-esque game toward the beginning, there is almost a clear line where they switched the focus to a more Devil May Cry-like/God of War experience. This was noticable after the first dungeon, which is by far the most complex. After the Twilight Cathedral, every dungeon turns into "grab item > complete secondary objective > kill boss", and some don't even have the secondary objective.

Unfortunately, the bosses in this game lack the complexity and challenges of the bosses in Devil May Cry, or the fun of the boss fights in the Legend of Zelda. They boil down to using the item you received in that dungeon, stunning the boss, and then clicking like a madman in order to defeat the boss, which is neither challenging nor fun.

The rest of the game is padded to hell and back with shadow world challenges which disappear halfway through the game and seem like a remnant from early in the development cycle. Most of the areas leading up to the dungeons are just as dull as the dungeons themselves. The Armageddon Blade fetch quest is where I called it quits.

It's very obvious the developers just threw a bunch of stuff at the wall and hoped that some of it would stick. There is a lot of variation in the challenges you have to complete, but none of them are fun. The environments look great, the music and voice acting are alright, and the story is ok. The gameplay just isn't fun. Try at your own risk, I guess.
