EDIT: I somehow haven't received the Orbit DLC even though I own the Season Pass. I'd give the game a second chance if I did, but I guess Ubisoft forgot about me or something.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In a nutshell: Microsoft Office Excel 2205, AKA Spreadsheet Simulator

If you're a fan of the Anno franchise like I am, I'd say skip over this entry, or if you can't resist the temptation, buy it when it gets a price cut and is on sale.
The way the game is handled is RADICALLY different from any other Anno game so far. Strategy is not a thing in this game, you can just throw down buildings randomly and happily chuck along. Your citizens need food? Place a rice farm in an spot and they're instantly supplied. Are they thirsty? Find a coastal slot and throw down a water bottle whatever. It's simple and it's unappealing, half of the time I'm just waiting for numbers to go up.

Oh right, there's combat too, I guess.
See, the game is split into "sectors", some of which are Crisis Sectors. These are the only points of the game where you will get SOME excitement. You can just ram on through everything, spamming abilities to get yourself out of the danger and then do the objective.

Speaking of sectors, one of the selling points for me was that 2205 was supposed to be "5 times larger" than it's predecessors. Well, it technically is much larger than any other Anno game, but in the wrong way.
As stated earlier, the game is split into sectors. These sectors will ALWAYS be the same, no matter what. The temperate sectors are the same, the arctic sectors are the same, the crisis sectors are the same, and - surprise, surprise - the lunar sectors are the exact ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ same.

"Lunar sectors, you say?"

Oh yeah, you go to space. It's more of a novelty thing. You build your cities in craters on the moon and have to make shield generators to protect from meteor showers, it's nothing exciting.

"Shield generators? Are you saying we build cities with a TWIST?!"

Oh no no, it's not as exciting as it sounds. In fact, it's more of a hinderence than anything.
In the arctic sectors, your citizens need heat, so you need to place your housings next to factories and mines and such. This becomes an EXTREME annoyance when you're trying to get the neccesary amount of citizens to advance, seeing as they cant even be a single inch outside of the heat radius of their pinky toes might freeze to death or something.

Still, the game is enjoyable for an hour or two, I'll give it that. But don't expect this to be worth the 60€ you're cashing out for it.

Long story short, I would not recommend buying Anno 2205, I regret pre-ordering the Gold Edition and I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake as I did.

Rating: 1/10.

EDIT: Felt like pointing out that I did leave out quite a few things (unintentionally) like the lack of multiplayer and such. The other reviews probably do a better job at explaining everything anyway, this was just made as a rant review to vent my disappointment.

I wanted to love this game but I couldn't.

Build a house.
The house became a victim of Isaac Newton.
