Beta review

Just a really good hack'n slash game and also the most thematic 40K game out on the market imo. Awesome music and art to go with it.

Has a bit of a slow start but once you got a bunch of skills and weapon unlocks it gets way more fun. Loads and loads of weapons to choose from with a large pool of perks. Get lucky and you'll find the "perfect" weapon. Fun and distinc classes with good voice acting. Good character creator with the possibility of making some really comical looking faces, like a veteran sharpshooter that is blind on both eyes.

Fighting is fairly straight forward, hack and slash melee with some weapons having special attacks plus a lot of ranged combat in between. You get one special ability with a fast cooldown. Getting good in this game has more to do with knowing the correct tempo (knowing when to block and strike) and awarness of your surroundings. It is not a moba style game with 10 different buttons to chain-press.

Was fairly unstable during the beta with many disconects, however these became fewer and fewer as Fatshark patched the game. Could use more boss variation.

It's a thinking man's cardgame. The amount of tactical loops you can make is something I haven't experience before, there is incredibly card diversity so you can come up with all kinds of wacky synergies. Some decks are of course optimal but I feel that the meta still allows for a fairly wide variety of decks and play styles.

You can also play it without spending a cent and still get access to new cards pretty easily. And if you wish to boost your rate of progression then I think your options are fairly affordable as well.

+ New map generator adds more strategic depth to the game, both in war and city settling
+ Revamped resource system makes trade more relevant and adds an extra layer to unit production
+ Natural disasters makes the world feel more vibrant
+ The music
+ A diverse set of civs that play very differently
+ More late game improvements, coastal cities can now become exceptionally powerful
+ Changes to the space race victory, there is a longer buildup now and I feel like you benefit more from having several cities with the spaceport
+ Diplo points and the world congress. Some call it too simple, personally I like how smooth it goes and how powerful your votes can be.
+ The AI feels less whimsical now

- Civ balance
- I feel like some of the new improvements come a tad bit late
- The price. You can get a new game for 40 €, it holds several of my friends back from a purchase
- Electricity must be made more important, it's one of the big game changers in human history but is made entirely optional in game

Tedious is the best way to describe this DLC. While the quality itself is high and in line with everything else in the darkest dungeon, the setting is the big issue. The game will force you to run a specific dungeon every so often or suffer penalties and death of your characters - passive unfun death in the courtyard. On top of that the enemies of the crimson court will spill over into the other dungeons and futher lower the variation of the game.

In summary, the issue with DLC is that it makes the rest of the game revolve around it, and handling the infection becomes more of a chore than a fun challange to deal with.

Beastmen as a faction are really interesting, they have loads of truly unique troops and rely heavily on monsters and larger units to backup their otherwise squishy regular infantry. The horde mechanic is basically the same as the orcs with some minor tweaks, which is a bit disapointing. The price here on steam is a bit steep but there are a bunch of other (legit) sites which sells this DLC for a more reasonable prices, so to me this is not an issue.

Overall, a good addition with fun and wonderfully modelled units. If you like playing chaos you will definitely like beastmen.

Många valmöjligheter när man skapar sin art, många spelstilsalternativ, nya utmaningar varje ny omgång, innovativt teknologiträd, intressant skeppsdesigner, djup diplomati, roliga uppdrag och planethantering.

Laggar något mot slutet, lite väl stillastående mid-game, buggigt, ingen civil ekonomi

Adds a fair amount of new and interesting mechanics for a decent price. This DLC also brings a bunch of free game updates with a large impact on game play, such as a sailor manpower pool and state management system.

Good and bad changes since Fallout 3 and Nev Vegas, but ultimately the good outweighs the bad. If you are gameplay focused like me then the improved combat, which is more fluent and satisfying compared to FO3 and Vegas, is the saving aspect of the game. But as somebody who enjoys RP a lot as well I am sad to see the system becoming terribly one dimensional. There is little room for RP, your character (the male one at least, haven't tried female yet) sounds way too timid even when you try to be hostile. There are some choices but they can almost only be found within the main story line. Many of the characters could have ben made better as well, with longer and more intricate dialogues so the player can investigate the history, motives and personaleties of those inhabiting the world. This, and that textures could be a bit higher resolution for the PC version, are the only real critiques I could hold against the game.

Without spoiling too much I will say that I find the main story quite interesting, you are caught up in a struggle between some major factions and plenty opportunities for betrayal and acting as double agent is given. Unravelling the mystery of your missing son is also an entertaining aspect of the story. In the end it is your personal view on morality that will decide the future of the Commonwealth.

A few small points: The skill system of the old fallout games has been compressed with no real effects on actual gameplay. Power armour is now quite powerful but also entirely option if you feel it makes the game too easy. Humour can be found in abundance in true fallout spirit. Companions feel more interesting compared to earlier games. Base building is great if you are into that sort of thing. While graphically unimpressive the art style of the game still makes it a pleasant sight for the eyes.

The game is also abundant in content and probably contains 150 - 200 hours of playing if you intend to 100 % it.

A sandbox game with endless possibilities, and one of those few early access games with a truly dedicated team behind it. Substantial updates are introduced weekly and the team is in direct communication with the community and constantly reading the steam forums.

The game itself provides plenty of base building opportunities for the construction junkies while also having a very strong social aspect where cooperation with others greatly benefits the player. Unlike many other open world sandbox games (like DayZ) players in Ark usually ask first and shoot later. You are way more likely to have a friendly chat with a stranger than a brainless fight. There is still plenty of PvP for those who seek it though, even if people generally are nice they are always prepared for war should the need arise, and most also build their bases with the possibility of attack in mind. The leveling, taming and crafting system provides the player with some pretty clear goals from the very start, so you wont get bored in a long while even if PvP doesn't interest you.

On the negative side poor optimisation is the main concern, and some rubber banding on the official servers. But that is honestly the only negative points I can think of, especially considering that Ark is a work in progress.

Not enough content for a 46 € price tag. The fundamental mechanics of the game are satisfactory but after some time of playing you realise that something is missing, and things start feeling a tad bit repetitive. Fleet battles also feel unimpressive and don't really give me a feeling of huge monsters of steel battling it out in the vacuum of space.

With this in mind, it's not really a bad game, just not worth the 46 €. There is a lot of room for min-maxing for those who like that, and designing your own ships to fill your specific needs is highly appreciated.
