Seminal game that I remember at 8 years old sucking and being too impatient to let exponential growth take its course.
All that is missing in this release is the Scenario Editor (which may be hard to port as it uses a Microsoft Access runtime from 1999, which modern Windows has abandoned).
Widescreen mod is essential. Also, EA please release Sims 1 and 2.

After a 550 hour, 11 year quest, and over 470 deaths to 100% this game, I can confidently say...

THE ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP IS OVER. BYE FLORIAN. I AM ETERNAL

Most of the time the game will kick you in the shins and then the nether regions when you get down with enemies with savvy attack and moving patterns. But glory awaits once you last long enough to get a synergistic combo, for even the strongest enemies will crumble to dust. In that sense, it satisfies the gambling itch.

For me, it was "Not if but When." Repeat several times over to cover every achievement, all the way up to beating the final, final boss in hard mode with a character that takes only special types of hearts, (but at least there is an in-game item that gives that status).

Great perspective of Edmund McMillan's work before he made SMB. Been in the business for many years, and it shows

This game is brilliant in its entire composition. It has a very childlike demeanor, set with a Victorian steampunk motif, and yet the difficulty is anything but childlike. Hint for those playing: Imagine a solution that would connect the essential points, (What is point A, and what is point B?) and place the pieces iteratively. Work with the perimeter first, and then work inward. Great matching art and sound design. Would buy.
