Played game with my SO, we both enjoyed it thoroughly. It is a third person 3D exploration game about climbing Hawk Peak, as Claire (the playable character) is coming of age to have to climb it because is it their family tradition to climb this mountain at least once. There is a lot to find, a bunch of people to talk to, and no real goal to achieve. I feel like there is more emphasis on exploring and engaging with everybody and their little quests than making it to the summit. While you can reach the summit relatively quickly, there is still so much left to do if you are a completionist.

If you bought April 2019 humble bundle, it was a humble exclusive from the humble store and you have now been given a steam key. If you haven't bought in on the humble store, it is still worth every penny although the game is short. My play time is the amount of time it took us to find all of the maps and their treasure, all 20 golden feathers, both silver feathers, return the watch+headband, and talk to all of the characters that we found and finish their quests. There may be more, but documentation is slim for this game as it is so new. I plan to make a guide shortly after posting this of where to find everything, so if you're scouring reviews for hints, the wait will be over.

We played this game with a DS4, and I suggest that those who go to play this game use a controller as well. The keyboard controls aren't bad, but it just plays so much better with a controller. The game is worth full price and I suggest everybody who is reading reviews looking for somebody to really sell it to them to just buy the game and dedicate an hour or two of an evening to just explore.

If the pixelated style is giving you a headache or you have a high resolution monitor, type "cheatsplz" and then type "highresplz" (without the quotes) and the game will render at its highest resolution. You can just type it anywhere, there is no place specifically to type it in. Thanks to the dev grilledcheese for this information. This didn't cause any issues with my playthrough when I was testing it out, but your experience may vary.

edit:
It seems like the functionality to change the pixel filter was added without cheats, as well as a speedrun timer in the menu. Sweet. Also, making a full fledged walkthrough took a lot more time than anticipated so I scrapped it considering there are now other guides to look at.

edit2:
I speedrun this game, which is why I have so many hours compared to most others. It takes between 4 and 8 hours depending how you play to 100% the game.

edit3:
Help A Short Hike get GotY by voting on the Steam store! Deserves it in every way.

Good platformer with snappy controls and a cute story. I don't like the effect they use to emulate speech though.

Honestly I am ashamed for what I paid for this game, and wish I could pay more. I got it in Humble Bundle and gave it a shot and never put it down. It's one of the top 5 games I've ever played, and strongly urge anybody with even a passing interest to give it a shot.

There is an incredible amount lore that is discovered through exploration, and it is balanced with boss fights and secret areas, and even secret bosses. You really have to work for upgrades, and even if you cheese it and look everything up on the wiki, just knowing where something is located is only half the battle. You can take it slow and play casually, or you could take it hardcore mode and just tank everything as fast as possible. The game accomodates for both play styles. However, if you don't like to die 5-10 times at a new boss to learn its attacks and work out a pattern, this game might not be for you. Some of the bosses are incredibly difficult, but you don't need to beat some of the harder bosses to beat the game.

Note: Keyboard controls suck, and this is coming from a die-hard keyboard/mouse player. Grab a bluetooth PS4 controller or something and have at it.

Cease and Desist to OpenIV staff. I paid for a product that I soon will not be using anymore. I refuse to give any more money to such a greedy company.

Microtransactions are awful.

The new DLC is just pitiful at this point.

The game was fun when I could do what I wanted with it. GTA5 is dead.

A great FPS with wonderful replay value. In fact, the game kind of rewards you with cool unlockables and stuff for replaying the storyline. The menus are easy to navigate, and the locations and missions are mapped out for you. There is some strategy required, and there's different characters to suit your playstyle, but for the most part, it's a casual FPS.

If you're like me and saw this on sale for 10 bucks, it's worth every penny.

This game is pretty much QUBE but with actors. I'm not going to lie, I liked it better without the Actors. The game is very desolate and lifeless on purpose, there's no sense of anything but completing puzzles, which are very nice by the way. Play the original QUBE.
