If you're not accustomed to bullet hells, you'll have a hard time at first. But once you start to understand the bosses and your hitbox (which is actually quite generously small compared to the sprite) you'll start feeling so good weaving in and out of bullets and using your bombs at the right time.

Seven hours in and I already aced the gauntlet. I'm an Isaac player though, so I have some reflex already built in. My first suggestion to new players is keep your eye on your ship, not the enemy. That takes some learning, but using your peripheral vision to attack and keeping your main focus on defense is the best way to go about it. It seems like an alien idea at first, most games want you to focus on the enemy, but once you get into the swing of things it works like a charm.

The game itself is great. You see a lot of good bullet hells leaning into the more mechanical aspect of things, and there's a bit here, but SoP mixes mech and fantasy in a great way. I get a lot of Cave Story vibes here, and that's what drew me to the game in the first place. I was not disappointed.

I won't lie, normally I would recommend this game with the patches that mods provide. I won't go into extreme detail, because you can read a lot of other reviews here to get the gist of it.

I decided to pick the game back up after it got this nice visual overhaul, but it's nearly unplayable. Getting stuck walking up to terminals, falling through the world, NPCs not initiating storyline conversations; I've been running into them all. I just hope the modding community is up for some hardball, because now that Fallout 4 is getting attention again, you can bet Bethesda will be ruining mods with their useless patches left and right.

If you want my real review, pickup and play any of the other Fallout games with mods and wait for modders to update on this one. It probably has hands-down the worst writing and storyline of all the Fallout series anyway.

Anyone who is somewhat familiar with Cthulhu but not the source material might think the game is okay at best. Unfortunately, it's just not there for anyone who is a fan of H.P. Lovecraft and Lovecraftian lore. Half Life feels more Lovecraftian than this game.

When comparing this to Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, it has all of what made DCotE pretty bad, and none of what really made it good. But what's a private investigator game without horrible sneak mechanics and overly-obtuse "hidden" clues?

The graphics are okay, but the animation team is... really bad, not going to lie. All of these characters could eat a footlong sub in one bite, and seem like they have only a small inkling of how to properly articulate words when they talk. You'd have to play it to really understand what I mean, but it's pretty bad. It's not even the graphics that are really terrible, it's just... walking planks with hinge mouths. That's the best way I can explain it.

The only thing that really saves the game is there are a few really well-rounded characters. Some of the key characters are really interesting, while others are as flat and stiff as their character models. Unfortunately, one of those flat characters is the main character himself, making the game overall feel extremely monotone. He's just a cookie cutter PI, but at least is saved a bit of face by the voice actor.

tl;dr: You have to really be itching for a fictional horror PI game to enjoy this. Like how food tastes good when you're really hungry.

Just came back to this game and I wish I never did. This team doesn't have an imaginative bone in their bodies. Oh look, a ton of new options and sliders for the human race... that's nice. And as before, every other race gets shafted. Beornings have never had a graphical update, elves/hobbits/dwarves don't get any face sliders, old hairstyles never got updated to look as good as the new "woke" ones and we didn't get any new smooth hairstyles (the old ones are not good and never have been good).

Beards don't match hair and have never had a graphic update and servers suck as usual. And now the team has the balls to be butt-hurt that no one likes their half-baked, slow released additions, so they're lashing out at their loyal playerbase and banning customers that have been supporting their game for years. This is a crapfest. Don't ever pay for this garbage again, trust me. Please get rid of this team. They suck. LOTRO needs to either die out or get new management.

There is a gold mine in this game, but the team has no skill, no direction, and not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ care for their customers. I would recommend this game normally by itself, but I will never recommend a game run by this awful, soulless, amateur, money-grubbing, lowlife, slow-ass team.

Once there were boners in our hands... now there are pitchforks and torches.

I don't think you fully understand the gravity of your situation.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend it at it's current price tag and not even really on sale. It's a $5 game max. The reason I put this price tag here, is that there are other games that are better for exactly that.

It's not that there's not enough content, it's more like the content is sort of the same. Eventually, you just wind up dreading going back down into the mines because it's a hassle and it's boring.

I really hate to say that, because I think a lot of love and thought went into this game. I'll keep an eye on this developer for a while. I think there's huge potential in the team, but this game isn't it, chief.

I bought two games in the past few days.

1: Red Dead Redemption II

2: Valheim

I have over seven hours in Valheim and under an hour in RDO. RDO is a great game, but $60-$100 and soaks up over 160gb of my drive. This game is under a gig and 20 bucks. 'Nuff said.

I uhhh... I can't recommend this game. No, not because it was over-hyped. We all knew it was over-hyped. It's because I sat down at my desk this morning, and didn't really feel like playing it. Graphics are great. Gameplay is fine. There is just something about the overall feel of the game and the story that doesn't hook you in.

The character creation is bad. It's like they put a crap ton of different options in, but those options have no options. There's no tattoo color, there's barely any beard or eyebrow colors, and the darker hair colors are all dark green. Want brown hair? You need to have black roots, which are actually dark green. Tattoos are all dark green. Did I make a cool character? Yes. Did I make the kind of character I like to play? No.

The wanted system would do Oblivion proud. I t-bagged at an officer from six feet away and apparently that's a crime. He magically summoned five other officers and two drones to swiss cheese me. Bored, I proceeded to just keep reloading and kill him in every way possible.

So no. I can't really recommend this game. Will I keep playing it? Maybe. And who knows, maybe something will hook me in. But for now, I just can't recommend it to you.

Plus, that drink poster girl has a bigger c*ck than me.

Quick fix for my problem. I will absolutely recommend tModLoader from Steam if you're looking to run one or two big mods and several smaller ones.

Anyone looking to run any sort of major overhauled mod list will have to figure out the x64 bit version, though, which does not work with this version of tModLoader even though it is 1.3.5 (you'll have to roll back to the previous version of Terraria through Steam).

This is not a fault of tModLoader, as I believe the x64 version is fan-made and, from what I've played, takes a little TLC to work out the bugs. This version is definitely better for new modders.

Five bucks to support this beauty? Done.

Think Dead Cells with Hades gameplay. Now wrap that up in gorgeous modern dreamscapes. Here's a couple pros and cons.

Pros:
- Very fluid movement and dodge.
- Amazing soundtrack.
- Amazing artistic graphics.
- Great theme.
- Fun weapons and abilities.

Cons:
- Ranged attacks are... odd. Slow, clunky draw with even slower projectiles. By the time I'm done aiming, the enemy is on me. When my arrows reach the target, the target is already on a whole different corner of the map. The damage is also negligible. Not a big fan of needing ammunition, either; It's sort of a dead mechanic in modern ARPGs.
- I understand the theme of the game, but meeting, chatting, and gifting people doesn't really contribute anything to the gameplay other than the unlocks. It's sorta just there in all it's vanilla blandness. It really should be expanded with more interaction, or axed altogether. It's a chore as-is. That being said, it could just be me. I'm not really a fan of games that try to blend multiple gameplay genres, in this case a robust ARPG and a barebones life-sim.
- When you get a weapon for the first time, you'll probably spend a moment practicing chain attacks with it, only to find out the timing is completely different when you actually hit an enemy. This is because time slows for a quick half second or so every time one of your attacks connects. The upside is that you have slowed moments where you can react to an outside threat. The downside is that you have to re-learn how to chain in actual combat. It makes weapons like the dagger a pain, because it's second attack animation is a double strike that slows time twice.

Overall, though, these issues are minor compared to what the game gives you. It really has all the ingredients for a best-seller. It's also really refreshing to see developers that let you try the game completely free, as well as asking for a humble support price. You literally have nothing to lose by playing this game, and it hides nothing about what it is.

TL;DR: I recommend.
