I can not recommend Cube World in its current state.

The region lock system has really no solution for how I want to play the game. It blocks and hinders so much logical expansion of the game it almost seems like a joke. The alpha was no where near perfect but it still was a great base to expand upon which is why it was easily excusable (alphas are meant to be expanded upon).

In the current version of the game you go from peon to god with literally one item drop - It is all RNG so it reflects in your progression rate. It's like the region lock system was just invented so you could become so incredibly op (of which was impossible to do in the alpha bar ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on cows / non cyan dungeons below your level) just so you can walk 5 steps to the right and be brought back to pleb status for 'balance'. Any permanent combat upgrades would only make this problem worse, each point by its self would feel useless. But once you hit a certain percentage you would unceremoniously become god literally anywhere.

It also seems in the past 6 years combat has not been worked on at all. 99.5% of enemies will just run at you in the same predictable manner, sure they have different skins but effectively its like fighting the same mob. The others are projectile based (Spitter/Snout Beetle/Archer/Mage) all of which can be beaten by you simply walking to the left. Except the mages, the only dodgeable mages are the ring mages. Combat is just as boring and now it is literally useless to kill 80% of the world as quests drop better items and enemies do not even fill a bar.

There is no long term goals, unless you want to increase your light radius forever. Was it asking for too much to actually have actual progression and not a mobile game nibble experience? Slowly work up through a fully featured skill tree going further out from spawn encountering different biomes with harder and smarter enemies. Maybe an actual reason to grind up with the long term goal to take on bosses/lords that requires to use your brain to beat instead of using the same hit and kite tactic that require 56 IQ to execute.

There is so much things wrong that this could effectively go on forever, I might update more later.
