What starts as an overwhelmingly positive start soon turns to utter monotony as you perform the same repetitive tasks over and over for decreasingly likable characters. I feel like it is death by a thousand cuts, nothing too egregious by itself but all of the small problems add up, turning my fond feelings into disdain, for both the game and the characters. The writing, while good at points, doesn't stick the landing for many of the characters and does not redeem the game play. A lack of quality of life improvements adds to the slog, the slow animations made me hesitate doing all the tasks between fishing, logging, mining, and even exploring.

If you feel like the writing of the character dialogues and the fond farewells will be enough to get you through the end, then like many other people you may truly love this game, as it is very unique in what it sets out to achieve. The differing opinions come from whether you think they reached those intended goals. I wish I loved this game as much as the others, but by the end I was begging for myself to be taken to the Everdoor . However, if on the fence, I urge you caution, and to maybe read the wiki and leave the games stories in your imagination - it'll save you hours of tedium and boredom.
