The core game play is a lot of fun. Lots of different mechanics to create interesting and varied builds, and quests that prompt trying different build types, which gives it a lot of replay value.

The one downer is the weirdly sloppy home base you return to between runs. The graphics in the main portion of the game are lovely refined pixel art with a lot of charm. The town looks like it was thrown together last minute, with none of the same visual appeal. The town building mechanics feel equally thrown together, and it just isn't fun to have to do. Trying to put down buildings is a chore, and it often feels arbitrary which placements of buildings are legal. For example, you can't place paths/structures behind a building with no obstructions, while some buildings can be placed adjacent with each other and others can't, which makes making an appealing layout impossible. The pathways you can put down don't even align with the entryway of the buildings.

The town building is a very small part of the game, and doesn't detract too much from an otherwise very polished product. You aren't forced to engage with it too much, since doing enough runs will get you most of the materials you need without needing to optimize the home base.

Overall a great game, sitting in a nice medium complexity for a rogue-like, where it's not boringly easy or overly in need of min-maxing to create interesting combos to succeed.

The game unfortunately still feels like a game in early beta access. The controls don't feel comfortable, there are typos, the game play itself wasn't fun to me.

The 3D world feels like it detracts from the game. There are no character portraits, and more often than not an NPC is talking to you while facing away from the camera/the direction your character is facing towards. Your character moves fairly slowly and most of my time was spent running large distances between various buildings. You can only carry one item at a time, so the first day I would run back and forth with a single sap in my hand to take it to another container. On day two, upon receiving a basket that hold 3 stacks of items as my single hold item that I would have to heavily manage, and realizing there really wasn't going to be any sort of reasonable inventory system, I quit out of the game.

Weirdly for such a simple game, it was not straight forward what I was meant to do at a given moment. A few minutes into the game, you're given a hint that you're meant to go upstairs, and from that you're meant to intuit that you should interact with a bed (that has no indication that it's an interactable) so that it will collapse, shake the room and knock down some planks covering up a side door. At one point, you're given an axe and told to collect wood, but not strong enough to collect the wood in piles around the area. If you try to cut a full grown tree, you're not strong enough for that either. Cut a smaller tree? You idiot, that just destroyed the growing tree and reduced it to scrap. After running around the map a few times, turns out you just had to cut a specific colour of tree. You get 4 wood from cutting 2 trees, so after gathering 3 wood for the quest, you're left with one log with nowhere obvious to put it. Can't put it in the pile of logs, and wasn't able to find any empty chests.

The game simply wasn't enjoyable or charming enough to trudge through that kind of lack of direction or clunky gameplay. I genuinely hope to try it again at a later date if/when it is more polished.

If you're looking for a short game (3-4 hours) with a great story line, definitely give this a shot.

Early Access Review
I really want this game to be fun, but it's too unbalanced and glitchy to get anything but minor amount of fun followed by intense amount of frustration from it. The second mission gives you a very finite amount of space as a challenge, and after working on it for about 3 hours over a couple different attempts, I haven't been able to get past the first of three milestones in profit. This is with several different strategies and being able to stay afloat etc. During my latest attempt I was locked out of the game by yet another glitch, where my employees acted as if they had no tasks and complained of nothing to do while the place sank into bankruptcy as they wandered aimlessly between the rooms. Really hooping some things are patched and this game reaches its potential, but I'd wait for a later release.

Only Fun with Controller and High End PC

It's a fun idea, but was basically unplayable for me. I have an average computer, but was getting lag/frame rate so bad it was basically unplayable. It's also obviously meant to be played with a controller, and most minigames don't run very well with the keyboard controls.

I left the game to get my refund in under 2 hours, and just leaving crashed the game for everyone else playing, so there's that too. Fun game that needs some TLC.

Great game, fun time sink. Frustrated that you can't craft some of the more time saving recipes until the game is basically over, but overall just really enjoyable.
