Chef's Kiss

This game was EXACTLY what I was looking for in a mystery game. So puzzling. So unique and still derivative. The story was great. The gameplay was smooth. The visuals were shiny and pleasing. And the voice acting. THE VOICE ACTING. That was some phenomenal work. I really believe they both need more work in voice acting (if they don't have it already) cause they were GREAT.

Overall, I really, really enjoyed this game and I highly recommend it to other puzzlers like me.

AAA game companies, take notes. Players don't want the crap you shovel out for money. We want quality gaming experiences that caters to everyone. Larian Studios made a masterpiece and didn't ask you to pull out your wallet. It's about bloody time gaming companies think about the players again.

That aside, this game is so great. I'm obsessed. Definitely get it.

This game is a better battlefield. Been messing with it since Alpha.

Summary: If you're into this style of game (i.e., Rimworld, Gnomorria, Minecraft (kinda), Prison Architect), definitely pick this one up. It's the granddaddy of all those games and I guarantee you'll love how deep this game is.

I've been a big fan of the free version. The depth and intricacies involved in this game make it a great investment of time. And, now, an investment of money. Money well spent for the update and to help the developers. When I first heard they were bringing it to Steam, I was excited. That would mean more players. Then all the updates about the UI changes and improvements to QoL came. I was pumped every time I saw the updates. Here we are, now, with the full UI updated game and I can't be happier.

I've only played about 30 minutes at the time of writing this, but so far my experience has been very positive. It takes a bit to get used to playing DF with a new interface, but the interface is very intuitive. The in-game tutorial is short but sweet. As I am a veteran player of DF, I can't say that it had any impact on my play except that I know how to find what I'm looking for to get going. Hopefully the tutorial and the in-game help menu will teach new players how to play and get past the initial learning curve and the detail and depth of this game.

I highly recommend anyone interested in games of this style to pick this up. If you like Rimworld, you'll see that Rimworld only scratches the surface of what DF can do. And, if you don't have the money to spend on the Steam version, you can always play the free version as well.

TL;DR - The graphics and gameplay make this game the best in the series and you won't regret picking it up and playing with your friends or making new friends.

I have been a huge fan of MH since the PSP days. Since then, I've seen this series evolve both in a positive and negative way. All the monsters added, all the new areas to explore, each new title in the series brought me back to hunting and crafting my way to the top.

MH:W has changed the series, but in my opinion, it's for the better. Simplifying a bit of the mundane or difficult parts of the series helped to bring in people who were shy about it. A steep learning curve mixed with a super dedicated fan base would have been off-putting for me had I not already dipped my toes in long time ago. I feel these changes would likely have brought me into the series, or at least really into this game.

The graphics, the gameplay, the new helpful tools and a revamp to the controls really ensnared me into this game. I have only 29 hours on PC, but I own the PS4 version (yes I am the fanboy who buys a copy for each console) and I have sunk so much time into it. I do think the PC version is a ton better than the console versions.

Also, the fact that they FINALLY brought the series back to consoles AND put it on PC, that had me roped in right away. It was so much better when it wasn't just handheld. The 3DS ports and versions were good, don't get me wrong, but the world in MH:W just shows how great a masterpiece these guys can make.

With all that said, this game gits a big YES for recommendation and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

It wasn't bad at all. I saw the free weekend, took advantage of that and I really enjoyed the style of gameplay considering I'm a fan of 4X games. I do have a list of pros and cons though!

Pros:
Great graphics[/b] - Very well put together graphics. Even the bios on the people within the game had some great art and if you hover your mouse over them, they kinda move a bit. Outside of that, the overview map has some simplifications to make it easy to view. I love that when you zoom in on a system, you can see all the planets and what they look like, the overview gives you a smaller version of those planets and the ships look like something you would see on a holodeck. It's pretty good.
Music was enjoyable[/b] - If a game has bad music, I'm usually unimpressed but the music and sounds within the game were actually enjoyable to listen to and fit the atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere;
Feels like a space adventure - Every aspect of the small stories and the AI that fights you makes you feel like you're really in it. Not a lot of space games pull that off and this one did. I felt involved in the game and the story and felt like this game really showed what a 4X space sim should be like.
Unique and yet familiar[/b] - This game clearly fits its genre quite well but at the same time, it has a unique way of travel and exploration (which is kind of my favorite part of this game). You can send probes out to empty space to see if there's other systems around and to also see if there's travel routes within them. That's a really unique feature I haven't seen and that was quite handy.

Cons:
Not much variety in ships[/b] - I felt the ships could have used a bit of variety. I mean the ships between different empires were clearly different, but each ship within your empire looks almost entirely the same. That was a little offputting considering I could watch a battle and see and Explorer ship and an Attacking ship on my side and I wouldn't tell much of a difference between the two if I hadn't known their loadouts.
Battles are uncontrollable[/b] - While I get that it's a 4X game, at the same time, I wish I could have controlled the ships I had on my side a bit more. The advanced tab was quite unique in that you get to choose the way you want to either attack or defend. But I couldn't make custom fighting rules to match my loadouts. That was a disappointment.

Other than that though, I do highly recommend this game if those two cons don't bother you. It's fun and enjoyable.
