New update has some fantastic QOL. Solid recommend if you can handle its unforgiving nature.

At the moment (07/26/24) The game is somewhat playable, but needs more time to cook. Co-op has issues with stuttering on non-host entities, which causes a lot of problems. There are many bugs, mostly related to the weapons and backpack/chest rig item storage, for example items placed in the rack on your backpack will fly away when changing maps and often cannot bet found, and the flashlight attatchments for weapons are not able to be turned on. The game is missing many items that the first game had (food diversity, melee weapons, etc). The body doesnt rotate with the head, meaning you will reach to grab your pistol and end up grabbing your magazine or something else. When you are desperately trying to shoot an enemy that has rushed you, and there is no melee alternative, you will inevitably die. Repeatedly. In a game with so many hazards and extremely limited resources, getting killed and having to waste ammo/meds because youre taking damage due to non-functional game mechanics, its quite frustrating. On quest controls, since up with the joystick is now jump, you will be jumping A LOT on accident. Its incredibly disorienting and needs to change, it seems like what is considered an up command by the joystick is way too broad. I need to turn more than I need to jump.

Otherwise, the sound is good and the graphics are great. Just the same as the first game.

Wait until it cooks more. Hopefully these things get ironed out because ATM it is not worth 40$

This is hands down one of the most atmospheric VR games out there. There is far more than enough content to justify beyond the price tag, and its all good fun. The game is challenging without feeling unfair, and the gunplay is intense and well executed. There is marginal jank, but what is there is easily ignored (it is mostly physics issues IME, my weapons smacking around on random surfaces, etc.

The game has amazing potential and looks good for what it is. Gunplay, looting, moving, and interacting all feel pretty good. However, there are a LOT of tweaks that need to be done. My largest gripe isnt enemy accuracy as others complain (It is extreme, but I am used to playing games where that is the case), my gripe is that the fog of war moves SLOW visually. You can turn a corner, and get one hit by an enemy you dont see because your FoW hasnt moved out of the way yet. Its one thing to get killed by brutal AI, its another thing to get killed in a firefight because popping out of cover means the enemy gets free shots while you cant see them.

I will update this review as updates roll out, but for now it is in a functional but unenjoyable state.

Still EA, but has a good amount of entertaining content so far. Not near the end of the story at the time of writing this:

The art style is unique, reminds me a bit of crying suns. Combat is interesting, and gunplay is amazing, a lot of games struggle to get sounds right but rifles and shotguns sound meaty and responsive.

The story has been incenitve, and requires you fill many holes through your own actions in the world.

Lots to explore, and although combat isnt always incentivized, the loot is highly rewarding.

Overall, a 6/10 so far.

This is a very fun game while it lasts, but there isnt much content currently, and many many aspects need more polish. The idea and initial execution are excellent, but there needs to be more to do and more work to be done on it. Wait until its a bit further down the roadmap.

Its criminal how good this game is.

This game is buggy. The graphics are bad. The controls are wonky.

But that adds to the charm. This game has an atmosphere like no other, and its so thick you could cut it with a knife.

This game has literally made me ♥♥♥♥ and piss myself scared, hiding in the corner with the lights off hoping im not being hunted when the lights go out and I hear the heartbeat in my headset. Its pure nightmare fuel, seeing a shadow and watching the door slam shut in front of you when your EMF detector go off to level five out of nowhere. I have legitimately lost sleep over this game.
