Story is decent, and I think the whole "master chief becoming more human-like" thing would have worked well if 343 actually took the time to spread it out without instantly forcing their new narrative, which is hard to do when there's only 8 playable missions and you claim 2 cutscenes as "missions." The gameplay is extremely unfun, especially on legendary. Neither the prometheans nor covenant are fun to fight and the ammo capacity is laughable.

Multiplayer can be fun for a little but the game starts to feel more like COD with the hitmarkers, killstreaks, loadouts, perks, etc. If they limited these features to one or two gamemodes and made them their own separate thing that would be fine, but they didn't. However, Legendary Slayer is pretty fun since it mostly has the classic Halo gameplay, without the loadouts and killstreaks.

Spartan Ops is not fun in the slightest. On legendary, it's a completely boring snoozefest that just becomes infuriating. Every missions throws 50 million fuel rod elites or binary rifle knights at you, with every level ending in a very long "wave holdout" section. I can't really comment on the story since it wasn't worth paying attention to, and was more so made for the lore junkies, but I will say that Spartan Palmer gets very annoying to listen to. I really hope she dies in Infinite. Spartan Ops was a horrible replacement for firefight.

Linear story that forces you to follow a specific set of quests the entire game, post apocalyptic Sims which ends up being more of a grind than fun. Nothing to do after beating the game besides saving one million settlements.
