It's a massive arpg with a widely diverse tileset that will keep you occupied for no little amount of time. ~45 hours took me through the main campaign and the first two expansions on the first of 3 difficulties.

Character creation and builds are seemingly complex, but you can pay to reset skill allocations and play around pretty much to hearts content to find the build you like.

Early Access Review
2021: How is this game still allowed on the store?

I backed this on kickstarter looking for the true sequel to fallout 2. I waited patiently for updates for a 'prologue'.

This is dead. Do not spend money. It's been years - let the ones whom already lost their money suffer. Don't add to this void.

The story is just the beginning.

Endless mode and the various challenges are extremely complex will keep anyone interested occupied for the long haul.

For what the game is, it kept me occupied for a good time. It's bejeweled with a hub world and rpg mechanics. There are, not so much difficulty curves, but there are some grinding curves. It never feels like too much though.

My first playthrough for Alpha Protocol felt extremely experimental. I wasn't sure I liked it. As I played through a second and third time, the game seemed to open up. It really has a lot too it, especially if you mess aroun with different playstyles.

It's not too serious, but it is fun. An enjoyable six or seven hour campaign gets faster as you play through multiple times.

As a Veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, there is one thing I greatly appreciate about this game, the maps. While there are some random things (hesco barriers in places that don't make sense), the maps are otherwise beautiful, and really show the vastly different terrain that's been fought over the last 15 or so years. Iraq, with their complex and sandy buildings. Afghanistan with their tiered fields and beautiful mountains.

Everything else? The gameplay is solid. The set class sizes means you won't always get to play a sniper or an SAW gunner, I view this as a major pro because it gets you to experience other types of gameplay style. The coop is a ton of fun. The community ranges, but I've had more than a handful of good experiences. This game truly shines when people are communicating, working as a squad would. Definitely recommend.

Update: Many moons later. This game continues to shine. It's a ton of fun, and the community is great.

What hasn't already been said about Skyrim? It's a hoot. So I'll try to give some advice, two of the best quests are unmarked in this game. Both should be done.

1. Barenziah Stones - Download the mod to put them all on your map. They take you to some of the most amazing locales (and sidequests) in the game, places you would otherwise not travel to.
2. Dragon Masks - Same as above, DL a Dragon Mask locator mod and find them all. Also takes you to some really cool places you would otherwise not see.

400+ hours didn't really get me to the endgame stuff, or even close, plenty of content. The game is a good waste of time, a nice clicker game.

I mean, I don't know if I'd ever play a clicker game again, but hey.. can't argue with the theory.

This is the only MMO that has ever been able to keep my attention.

You don't target the enemy and then play the keyboard dance to win. This plays like an action game. Your reflexes, reactions, and knowledge of enemy attacks and movements are what keeps you alive.

After having created (Edit) 4 level 65 characters I give this game a big thumbs up.

A lot has changed since I joined near the end of P2P Tera. 99.9% of which has been for the best. Events are fun, (real-world) money is not needed to progress, each class has a definite and unique (fun) playstyle.

Update: The endgame grind has actually been down managed, and continues to move in this direction. As someone who worked hard to +15 a set of gear last season, I'm actually ok with this. Awakening gear was such a firm pain in the butt, and now it's more manageable. If you walked away from this game out of anger in the past, now (especially with the awesome brawler class) would be a good time to pick it back up.
