I _really_ enjoyed this game. It scratched an itch that has largely gone un-scratched since S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat. A large, open world with pieces of civilization, a bunch of mystery, and a lot of weirdness. The game is not without its flaws, with bugs that necessitate restarting the game client to resolve and predictable AI, but even that is enjoyable to abuse.

Leading two competing factions together is relatively simple to do, so when numbers are not on your side, find some friends or the enemy of your enemy and let them soften each other up so you can mop up afterward. Shooting into the sky is usually enough to attract attention. Also shielded units will always activate their shields after the first hour, so snipe a few in a row, wait for their shields to drain, then hit them with your assault rifle. Predictable AI, but enjoyable gameplay.

The game is not for everyone I'm sure. It's slower paced than many. But I really enjoyed my time with it and its expansion.

I just finished the main game and its single player DLC and I really enjoyed it all. There were a few bugs (stuff floating in the air, NPC's appearing/disappearing into thin air) but nothing major. Some of the tasks were a bit repetitive, but it is open enough that I could approach things a bit differently each time. I was thoroughly entertained for the 25+ hours I spent with it.

Beyond the Walls was really what clinched the story for me. I highly recommend that DLC.
