Really glitchy and though it started off strong, it was kinda mid by the end. Would have been better if the bird from garten of banban was in it ngl

Great puzzle game with an insanely good story. Some of the collectibles are a bit annoying to find, but also scouring everywhere to find them lets you see a ton of the easter eggs the devs put in so it kinda works. If you like puzzle games, you'll love this.

One thing I will say is that even though the game is amazing, I will note the devs seem a lil cash graby. Things like the remaster that's coming out, the fact the VR port is standalone, the prototype dlc, etc are annoying. You can just ignore it, but I had to mention it since it's so weird an indie studio will create such a good game but then make such odd triple A esque decisions.

I LOVE the Talos Principle, but it is not a game you want to play fully in VR. The VR port is done amazingly well, but it's absolutely exhausting exploring for hours on end in VR or standing around trying to figure out puzzles while you have a giant LCD strapped to your face. If you had the option to switch to Desktop mode while you're doing some of the more lengthy sections of the game like star hunting I'd 100% recommend this, but as it is currently you're forced to fully play in VR or buy the game again and start on a new save file which really sucks. Shame how such a good port is missing such a basic feature, at the very least give an option to buy the non-VR game on discount if you own the VR game and provide save file transfers.

TLDR: try this out for an hour see if you want to commit to playing in VR the whole time, and if not then buy the non-VR version. Either way, definitely play the Talos Principle it's great. It's just such a weird decision on the devs part for this port.

Went in blind because Joseph Anderson made a video on it, and I was not disappointed. It's brutally difficult but satisfying, if you enjoy puzzle games it's a masterpiece, very much would recommend.

Pros:
Decent Story for this first half
Some fun and hard puzzles mixed in, especially in the last segment of the game (although the majority are extremely easy)
Funny writing with dark humor that contrasts the tone really well making memorable moments

Cons:
Very short at 3.3 hours for me to 100% outside one achievement (that I did get, just didn't unlock for some reason)
Achievements only unlock upon closing the game and any achievements you miss have to be achieved on a second playthrough through the whole game, which is awful. No idea why that is still a thing in 2022 for this type of game.
Pretty bad graphics/animations, it's essentially a mobile game, it doesn't even have a 1080p option from what I saw, with the default being windowed. It is very reminiscent of old free GameMaker games.
Despite some moments being funny, a lot of the writing and plot is cheesy, with the last fourth of the game just being reduced to an anime power up with all quick time events that was honestly extremely tedious to do, and I don't even think you can die in it?

Overall:
Tbh this feels like a game for kids so maybe I'm outside the target audience? It's only $10 so it's not necessarily over priced, but I personally would have rather just played something else, it felt super generic. For a game called Epiphany City, there's maybe only one or two times where there was an "ah ha" moment. Music was generic, puzzles were generic, plot seemed super interesting at first but then just got more generic as it went on, I don't even think any backstories were at all explained in game, and you have to go to their website for the full backstory?

If you have $10 that you really wanna spend, and are interested in supporting indie games, go for it, but otherwise don't go in expecting to be impressed tbh. Personally, I found it from Atrioc's video on it and saw a single puzzle in the first area that seemed cool, so I decided to buy it to go in blind for the rest, but I was very underwhelmed, so I can't recommend it, but others may find it good.

EDIT:
Double checked, and yeah if you want the full backstory with character bios, you have to sign up for their news letter. Bruh

This game had the potential to be great, amazing idea, and at times felt like an insanely fun game I'd love. But the game was released unfinished, and frankly it's a slap in the face. I encountered so many gamebreaking bugs I lost count, content has been cut out of the game due to the bugs, it's gotten to the point where we don't even know if we just haven't figured out how to do certain secrets, or if they are just bugged and won't work. The game has major performance issues and is basically unplayable, along with having some very questionable design choices like once you finish the game, if you wanted to continue exploring and find everything, well they take away your ability to save, so have fun recollecting every single thing when you fall through the floor randomly and die. Legit, please do not buy this game. I say that as a huge fan who bought this without looking at anything to avoid being spoiled, I wish I had never bought it and just watched someone play through it on youtube, it would have been more enjoyable.

Wonderful game, would reccomend it ten times over. It takes a bit to get used to the combat system but other than that it is a masterpiece.
