The only game since i got my 4090 at the 4090 launch to hard restart my pc, no ctd, no blue screen no warning

Given what i can see from other reviews and video's out there and my 5 attempted starts I can not recommend this game based on what i see and my experience which is sad as i had some kind of hope that it might atleast be decent but alas

TLDR: I have spend 115 hours in POE2 and I feel like I want 100 of those hours back so.
POE2 feels like a POE1 medium league with a new skin and WASD and cutting 90% of all existing mechanics.
Just wait until full release let others who have more time to waste test it out.



In isolation POE2 seems like a promising start, if you never heard of POE1 or played it then sure you can enjoy it for a while but you will soon feel like core mechanics are missing.

Crafting is lackluster, maps are boring and vastly disconnected from lore, many glaring issues that should have been solved from a technical standpoint or gameplay standpoint.

If you have played POE1 then POE2 feels like the Temu version of POE1 its POE1 with WASD and fancy graphics and like 20% of the content.

Their decision to do a quick rush and focus on end game so close to early access release instead of the main story because "we saw other games not having a good end game and we wanted to not have that issue" is BS they over promised to themselves all kinds of content and just weren't able to deliver in time and instead of giving a clear proper delay(which would have been fine) they release something that just isn't worth it.

There are a lot of issues that just make it feel worse then POE1 and it shouldn't be the case they had a long time to build POE2 and to only have this after all that time teasing it shows there was a lot of miss management and scope creep that kept happening that should have just been league content instead and instead we just dont have that new content really.

Buying it as I want the studio to have financial support in order to have 1 more chance at making a good dlc next time, I honestly rate this dlc a 4/10 and not worth buying unless you really want to support Egosoft's next attempt at hopefully doing something better then this.

Racing in x4 engine is not a thing you should do yet there are far to many missions that require racing.
Most missions seem more like time attack then x4 content.
The expansion is promoted as "for new players to learn more about the game after the tutorial" but having the hours I do ingame and playing a lot of faced paced games normally, these missions are hard and some just do not make sense and none of these will help teach a player how to play x4.

The free tutorial does a better job then any of these missions ever will.

Again just buying because I want Egosoft to try harder and make something better and not close their doors or scale back future dlc due to lack of funding and we get even worse ones.

In a few hours time 2 crashes which for such a type of game is annoying to say the least.

Humankind feels like you take civilization and slap on more windows for management with less ui streamlining with lazy tutorials.
On first start i was greeted with a "pick 3 types of tutorial and lets go play" setting and then a crash on the intro video explaining the start of life then next start all i can find is tutorial video's so said screw it il figure it out myself.
The early game seemed interesting and got my hopes up that the first few ages wouldn't become meaningless really quickly but instead of being able to do more at the start except collect influence and food would have been nice but no do that for a bit and now we have cities, and now the starting island is explored(even on huge) before age 3 with 2 of the other civs met who subsequently go to war and break off the war every 10-15 turns, meanwhile i just trade with them both they both like me adn keep giving me favorable deals.

I had just swapped to the english and managed to find the other side of the map and started setting up my colony there when game crash.

Both crashes seem to happen due to it crashing my graphics card drivers(there is 1 other game that does this and thats destiny 2) because of how my monitor looses input for a moment my guess something to do with hdr+ ultrawide anyway.

Game is okay but i find myself wishing for a more streamlined ui one that either has screens for big overview resource income and quick troop selecting or visible hotkeys to press so that you can figure out what buttons to press to navigate through your cities/outposts or through your units.
It just feels too much like there are too many windows that hide information that you can completely miss your entire time playing if you dont actively go digging for them.

Game runs smoothly even in the biggest galaxy after 6 hours of continuous play with max ai and independent worlds at 4x speed, I loved dw1 and the newer graphics of dw2 make it quite a bit more enjoyable.

Kinda do miss the planets rotating around their stars but at the same time i am glad that they dont spin as as annoyingly fast as they used to anymore.

A solid 8/10 from me, this will not be everyone's cup of tea but do not take the negative reviews on technical issues too harsh this is a game that will(just like dw1) get a lot of updates and expansions with time but even now it is worth getting and playing.

Got the game started a first playthrough saw some things i wanted to change restarted it played until 6am went to sleep got up at midday played more.
Played 23 hours total finished the story once with full freedom for me and i have to say it is a great experience with the story and the game but there are quite a few things that can be changed and prob will in time.

Currently id say late game pace is a bit off next to that no control over road building leads to spider webs of a mess that will in giant bases(think 1000+ buildings) lead to slowdowns even on high end machines
Some of the story events are forced and will lead to you having to go down a route even when you dont want to

Besides gameplay elements though the game is stable no actual bugs that cause me to have to restart or crashes or anything which is a nice refreshing thing to see from any game now days ;)

Visuals like terrain and such can be made to be a bit more diverse in later stages of terraforming and some of the drones when zoomed in really do not look good but overall it is a pleasing game to look at though


One suggestion id make of all the things in my list, Make drones have a tech that you can research so that they can carry more then 1 item at a time please

If you look past day 1 issues you will realize the game is good heck even great just as usual plagued with some weird issues that are to be expected when a game goes from small time to nearly 5-6 times its size if not more of players and the devs where not expecting that so their login server had isusues

That aside game play well i have been playing the game since 2004 so i might be biased but i cant live without it

Hey look its age of empires 2 but with more qol and better graphics yet still some of the silly quirks and funny bugs is it worth 20 bucks? Yes yes it is most definitely worth 20 bucks maybe 40.
So far its been a lot of fun
