Yo dawg, we heard you like puzzles, so we put puzzles in your puzzles so you can solve puzzles while you're stuck on other puzzles. This game makes a biscuit blush once you see how many layers there are to it. Let it cook, and you'll be rewarded with a savory golden gaming experience. Billy Basso was basically a solo developer on this game, building the engine from the source up, and relying on people he trusted to fill in the gaps and get it out to the rest of us. Not a single miss on his efforts to make this gem that should absolutely contend for Game of the Year. Did I mention that it takes virtually no space on any device since it clocks in at under 40MB for a file size? That's good news, because this is a game that you can literally find stuff in FOUR YEARS, so you never need to take it off of your device once you've downloaded it.

By the time you feel like you've done everything in this game, it'll be too late to stop digging. You'll always be driven to find ONE MORE SECRET like a Moth to a Flame.

46 hours in, Donkey Figure acquired, and I still feel like I'm missing so many things. Fortunately there is an active and passionate community on the Discord to get us to the bottom of every secret in The Well. Hope to see you soon!

I enjoy the hell out of the game. Losing a massive chunk of the player base to corporate will drastically affect remaining players' ability to engage the content the same way as matchmaking will become more challenging and fewer squads will run high enough difficulties to push the progress bar. This is the day Democracy died. Boo!

Early Access Review
Simply stated, this is an absolute triumph of a game. Don't be put off by the early access tag! I know we've all been hurt before, but this isn't that game or that developer. My hat's off to Endo for being committed to the true spirit of game design! Now, lets get down to the nitty-gritty.

GAMEPLAY:
This is a game not just about magic, but the study and application of it. Your classroom is a hellscape of elemental chaos as beings from higher planes wage war for control of your world. Weaving spells comes naturally the moment you have more than one on your hotbar, but mastering the art of it is more of a constant pursuit than an achieved state. The spell codex contained in Morello, your leatherbound companion, is both fun to complete and invaluable to study as you wage war on the elemental demigods that threaten Villa and its inhabitants. Perhaps the most addicting aspect to the gameplay is just how much it MAKES SENSE.

GRAPHICS:
I'm not about to come in here and give a back-handed compliment like "The art is amazing considering this was all done by just one person." The art is amazing in this game and it, along with everything else, was done by just one person. Wow. This pixel style is nostalgic for me as it reminds of games like Maniac Mansion and Hugo's House of Horrors. The fluidity of motion and clarity of form is executed brilliantly on so many different models that don't simply get rehued for a different zone. Mindblowing amount of effort and detail.

SOUND:
Admittedly I play with my own music on most of the time, but that is a preference thing. The OST slaps, and spell sounds are absolutely played at full volume so I can immerse myself in the raw power I'm unleashing with these godly spell concepts. Even opening chests is a bumping good time.

9.5/10
The game isn't finished yet, but not for a lack of content. This is a beautiful entry into gaming this is still growing and becoming what it will absolutely go viral as. There is an amazing community of Scholars on the Discord server who are happy to share their knowledge with anybody thirsty for it. If you're even a little bit curious what this game is like or about, its a bargain fee to find out. You owe it to yourself.

A great co-op romp for friends and strangers alike. The need for communication while allowing for unique approaches to making a profit create a unique game every round. Definitely would recommend.

Everything a Souls fan would want and more. From Software delivered yet another amazing world rich with lore and detail that brings characters to life on the screen. I only have time to play in short sessions somewhat infrequently, but the world design and amount of content allows me to always have an engaging experience with the game. There is a TON of freedom in how you approach the order of events you take, and this allows you to break from a section that you aren't personally prepared for without having to feel like you're just grinding to make progress. No matter which way you turn, there is some kind of path to follow or feature to investigate or scenery to behold. Music blends seamlessly throughout game play sequences, and it never distracts from the sounds of combat, actions, or machinery that you interact with.

Just over 20 hours in and I feel like I am able to contend with most foes, but have maybe only half a dozen big enemies felled. I will absolutely be getting my money's worth out of this game.

This game follows the mistakes of every asymmetrical game before it, but this one even fails to offer anything new to the genre. It simply regurgitates a fusion of other people's ideas without improving any aspect of gameplay. Simply stated, it cannot be a game of monster-hunts-victims if the 'victims' can just attack the monster without needing any kind of equipment or setup. That is why nobody tries to play the monster on this game. If you don't believe that, just queue for any position and it will fill you into the monster role 90% of the time. If you're lucky enough to get put in a survivor slot, then you're celebration is cut short when the monster leaves before the match starts.

There is already a challenge to present some form of progression or reason to keep playing in a game like this, so making it not fun to play every role in the game is a death sentence for that goal. Give this one a pass, because this will not change.
