This game is considerably hard to review for a couple of reasons...

1. Yes, it has the same engine as Payday 2 and quite a LOT of similarities for that reason. However, this also means you will probably enjoy it if you enjoy Payday 2.
2. However, it has a number of features and mechanics that differ from Payday 2. It is NOT just a reskin nor a clone, and still feels like a somewhat fresh experience for a Payday 2 veteran.
3. There are bugs and other annoyances, but they are very rarely gamebreaking. I also can NOT verify other reviewers' claims of crashing.
4. A huge bonus for this game actually stems from it's similarities with Payday 2: It can be modded just like Payday 2 and many mods can and already have been ported over to this game. From Bugfixes over Quality of Life changes up to gameplay changing mods, there is a lot you can use. A nice starting point is this group I created and it's "Unofficial RAID WW2 Community Patch": https://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/groups/mraidga
5. Sadly it's true that this game has been abandoned by the devs (publisher's choice though), and due to lack of new content the player base is rather small. Modding as well as community efforts such as my group linked above are the only thing left... however, the people I have found so far in this game are very nice, and I keep trying to get more friends from Payday 2 & other games to start playing it.

In conclusion, this game does have it's problems but it can be quite fun. It's a coop shooter with RPG elements and a WW2 setting. It might not be worth the price tag it had upon release, and whether the current pricing is fine with you is your decision alone. During the last sale it was 75% off (meaning a price tag of 5 €), and that is most definitely fair.

Ghostrunner is a fast-paced first person slasher/parkour game with great visuals and a decent, fitting soundtrack. The controls are also fine most of the time and the checkpoints are usually fair enough.
The boss fights and puzzle sections are the least fun with combat sections being the most fun. Prolonged parkour sections between enemies are also fine for the most part but frankly not as fun as the combat ones, seeing how the combat sections can be dealt with in numerous ways while the rest of the game expects you to follow a certain path.
It should be noted that speedrunners take very different routes that have almost nothing to do with the "normal" gameplay.

I recommend this game although you will most likely end up well below 20 hours of game time even if you go for 100% achievements. Before buying you should definitely try the demo to see if it is the right game for you, and maybe watch some gameplay videos.
The only way you will spend more than 20 hours on this is if you care about improving your runs. There are separate leaderboards for fastest time and least deaths (both are per mission), however these are limited to your friendlist - as far as I can tell there's no way to see something like global leaderboards.

Still one of the best MMORPGs made to date in my opinion. Yes, it is tab-target combat but using abilities still feels impactful and if you get to know your class a little, combat is actually pretty fluid too. If you're frustrated with most F2P MMORPGs lacking the polish of actually decent ones, you will most likely love this one.

However, as a free player you're severely limited. A subscription is honestly quite worth it though, this game has just SO MUCH content you will spend many hours on. Personally I stayed F2P when I originally played it for a whole of the first 10 levels - the game convinced me enough at that point to warrant at least 1 month worth.

With a subscription you will have a ticket to jump straight to the latest addon, however I strongly suggest you play through the original storylines, too. To many people, these are still the best content in terms of storytelling for most classes and every class has it's own main story questline (from lvl 1-50) that is quite interesting for most of them, with most people generally liking the Jedi Consular's story the least. After having played through all 8 of the stories though, I feel the remaining 7 more than make up for just 1 being a little lackluster. There are spoiler-free or at least spoiler-light videos on YouTube if you search for things like "which class should I play" or so, that tell you a bit about the general concept of the story and how the community rated it without actually having spoilers.
The sidequests are also fully voice acted and actually offer a story development across each planet which works with or without your main story being played simultaneously. The dialogue and "karma" (light/dark side choices) is also quite interesting and influences your stories quite a lot, without actually affecting gameplay in an unfair way.

My recommendation is to try it out as F2P but get a subscription ASAP at least for 1 month if you feel the game might be worth your time. Generally, if you're into the story (each main class' story is worthy of being a standalone game tbh), you should actually play *all* 8 of them. Sidequests will offer some variety depending on your choices, but the equalized PvP is also pretty fun to level with, breezing through the story quests in between (you are downgraded to a zone's max. level in PvE if overleveled, though).

Last but not least - is it pay2win? No, it is the least pay2win MMORPG you could imagine (maybe next to GW2, although I haven't been back there in ages). While you're indeed extremely limited as F2P, there is literally nothing you will need to buy when you have a subscription - although a subscription includes a monthly allowance of cartel coins that lets you buy some neat mounts, outfits for transmog and other cosmetics.

Singleplayer: Boring, barely any plot to follow, basically just the MP with bots.
Multiplayer: Dead.

Imagine Hotline Miami except there's only one melee weapon that can cut/deflect bullets, then strip all the levels Hotline Miami has and add a survival mode with a 90s time limit.

How could it get any better?

100% free game that will keep you entertained for a couple of hours if your're into choice & consequence games. The story is interesting, the choices have meaning and well, it's free. Don't expect any cutscenes or voice acting, but the art and bgm are amazing enough to make this worthwhile.

It's a brilliant game and a worthy sequel to the first season. You play as Clementine, the little girl the first season's protagonist protected with everything he had. Even though she's still a little girl, she has matured considerably. There ain't too many games with female protagonists around (at least in my library) and a lot less with little girl protagonists, but in this case I couldn't imagine it any other way.
If you played the first season you'll love this one as well. It's felt a little shorter than the first season but you'll probably still end up with around 2 hours per episode. Multiple playthroughs are fun, especially using different savegames from the first season (yeah, you can import them, but you probably knew that already).

TL;DR
Play it! Finish season 1 first though (playing the DLC isn't that important but I'd still recommend it).

There isn't much to say about gameplay because there barely is any. The graphics ain't breathtaking but fitting considering it's based on the comics of the same name (it looks quite similar to the Borderlands games if you ask me, just with a whole different setting).
On the other hand, the music and sound effects are amazing, and the story is even better. It's not as good as the TV show's story, it's better.

I don't know about replayability, but considering your choices have a huge impact on the story - or how it unfolds, to be more precise - a second playthrough with an altered storyline seems tempting. I'll check out the second game first, though; after all your choices from this game will allegedly carry over to some degree, so I don't want to alter mine yet.

It took me about 12 hours to complete all 5 episodes which means a bit less than 2.5 hours per episode. This isn't much and some might argue that they don't want to pay the full price if the game doesn't keep them occupied for a certain amount of ingame hours; on the other hand, this is more of an interactive movie (or TV series, rather) and offers a different kind of entertainment, so that sort of justifies the price tag in my eyes. I got it for 5.74 € in the summer sale though, and it's sure as hell worth more than that.
