The best roguelite shooter. Made by shmup fans, and it shows! You don't need to unlock stuff to beat the game, you just gotta learn how to dodge bullets and shoot stuff. You'll never be able to blame a death on bad RNG, and any weapon you wind up with can get the job done.

This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rules.

Amazing game. The level design is fantastic, each area giving you basically a large playground/puzzle in which to complete your objectives. A wide variety of ways to solve problems, using different powers or elements of the environment, makes you start planning future playthroughs during your first one. The worldbuilding is fantastic, and while I'm not crazy about all elements of the plot and writing, I still get sucked into the world of this game.

The only negative for me is some bugs that have still gone unfixed. Throwing an object, especially an explosive one, causes the framerate to dip. Alerting witches causes the game to freeze until they all finish teleporting or using magic attacks against you. The framerate stays high until it drops to the single digits trying to calculate particle effects. There are several parts where if you knock somebody unconscious, you can play the level for another hour or two and at some point trigger an event that magically kills that person you knocked out. When that happens you have to search online for solutions if you want the no kills achievement. It's really sad how a game that is basically perfect is prevented from being perfect because, I guess, it just costs too much money to actually finish developing AAA games.

I still highly recommend the game, and I hope one day Arkane will finish it!

I have a lot more hours in this game than steam lets on because for some reason the game occasionally crashes if I launch through steam.

Anyway this game is fun. Surprisingly immersive and atmospheric for the way it looks. It's a really interesting world to explore with really interesting systems to figure out.

Original MAX is insane!

Very fun game. I know it looks kinda dumb, but it's great. Basically what makes it interesting is the different shot types you can get, and in place of having a bomb you can warp somewhere. This gives you quite a few ways to approach the stages. Add on an amusing story and you've got a pretty fun time.
