I was utterly unprepared in the emotions department.
Especially when knowing where it's all heading with Life is Strange, this prequel hits you right in the feels.

TL;DR: Good looking, higher skill requirement than usual fare, occasionally buggy.

KC:D, while evidenty hindered by bugs early after release and even now not entirely bug-free, is a really good example of what a bit of dedication to what you want to develop can achieve. After some failed Kickstarters, I opted to skip out on supporting video game kickstarters as those that actually make gold are as rare as… gold. This one turned out differently, though, and for that I am glad.

The game is visually … not stunning, per so, but beautiful and it just feels right. Early morning gallops through town, the sun slowly cresting above the trees or a fight by a campfire at night, it's just good.

I was a bit surprised by the combat system - after playing a lot of games, you usually™ get the hang of those very easily - but as the KC:D system is partially gated by the main quest, partially by skill levels of your character and frankly also takes some effort out of the player in unusual ways, it isa refreshing (if occasionally annoying) challenge. It doesn't feel like the run of the mill and cheap attempts of increasing difficulty by just throwing *more* at you, as modern games are wont to do.

My main quest review will still have to wait as I have not finished it yet, but thus far I feel like the story tries to do right by the historical setting; while the side quests are occasionally quite cheeky, they do try to convey the feeling of the setting in a fairly good way. The lore entries (with the implementation notes by the developer, as well) add a good, rounded experience to the while thing.

In short: yes, you might run into a bug now and here, but the journey's worth it.

DESPITE THE SAVE SYSTEM.

Short version: did you like System Shock 2? Or Dishonored? Play this game.

Prey is a pretty good and solid single player action adventure game that ... plays with perception and what you see pretty well. One can't really say more without spoiling the first reveal; I'd advise you to go into the game blind. Even achievement choices can be made after the first big "wat", and the plot doesn't get old as you get stranded doing non-plot stuff.

It does really well in recalling the feeling of System Shock 2, where a whole station is at your free roaming disposal, occasionally gated by keycards for the sake of some missions. You can very well completely clear out an area way before the main plot deigns to touch it, though. The world feels... solid. Well designed.

And most of the old pitfalls and tropes of 0451 games were avoided... it's entirely possible to have all the quest items in your inventory already, and you'll even get some funny dialogue for it.

A good continuation of the series as well as a good standalone title, although it pays having played the first game.

If you like to stealth it out, this game is excellent. If you're more for the direct action approach, it's good as well - but the combat system is slanted against the player in fights of multiple people with medium+ difficulty.

A very funny story set in the Borderlands universe. It's a "classic" Telltale adventure game... with some twists, as there is a decisive amount of meta jokes included that poke fun at everything from Borderlands to other Telltale games.

Stasis is a pretty decent point and click, isometric adventure game. Think of this like a horror setting for an isometric adventure game without any combat. The lack of combat makes it a very "relaxing" game, if the theme of the game itself does not unsettly you duly. There are a few, namely two, locations where timing is an issue, but that's about the height of gameplay-related stress you'll experience.

The game itself features a fairly interesting, if slightly standard, story. The puzzles involved are fairly straightforward, except for a few that suffer from the usual "combine everything with everything and hope it works" approach. As such, is not a particularly challenging game in itself.

With regards to the game itself, it is rather short - I'm guessing anyone but the most inexperienced players will be hard pressed to tickle a two-digit playtime count.

So, in summary, a fairly enjoyable, straightforward adventure game with a somewhat decent story. If you want a low-intensity snack of an adventure for an evening or two of slightly distracted gaming, go for it. If you want something with meat behind it that consumes your time, you'll be better of elsewhere.
