It's a fun game but lacks some interconnectiveness and quests, it does have some quests though not as many as i'd like for the area involved - overall a good fun game though sometimes you have to make your own goals (and soimetimes those goals are just entire city block demolition with a sledgehammer).

Early Access Review
I like it, it's def not for everyone, the initial campaign can be quite punishing depending on your starting class and luck of the draw on your item drops - at the end of the day this is a game about the drops and constant improvement on stats and internal game market, endgame at this point in time you may have to make your own goals.

As an ARPG it's pretty good, but like other arpg endgame loops it can be quite repetitive, I guess the question is do you like a repetitive loop thats biggest changes are in luck of your rng rolls on a day to day basis and how you respec your character personally.

This is of course an Early Access review, meaning things will change, more content will be added, but at the end of the day an endgame arpg loop is an endgame arpg loop, there may be a lot of content to do that loop in, but you're looking for items upgrades and currency as per usual and it's down to the individual if that is for them or not.

Cute little game about restoring your homeland, I've found my time with it very relaxing and restful, it does need some work, but that's OK, it is an early access game, and these things come with early access, I've seen products released in a much worse state - for the price point at this time it's well worthwhile, keeping in mind it is early access and can really only get better from this point onwards.

Honestly my favourite part is just growing trees, feeding animals and satisfying the unyielding demands of the poop god.
The way quests work is done well, though some of the quests themselves need a little polish, however overall for early access the look and feel of the game are fantastic, the movements are generally smooth, though turning on a small spot may take a little getting used to.

Overall well worth picking up.
Riding a hare pig thing around is also fantastic.

I'd never played a risk of rain title before, honestly the replayability with friends, the number of unlocks available the soundtrack, and just the fact that it's fun, it doesn't need to be a whole lot more than the above, what it does it does really well. It's a difficult game, but that's what we get from roguelites.

Honestly couldn't recommend the game more, if you like sidescrolling platformers with plenty of playstyle options and a high difficulty curve, you'll probably enjoy this a lot.

From the reviews from AAA devs, probs GOTY. There is a lot of content, and a huge range of flexibility in the storylines. It does have some bugs and issues, especially the further down the line you travel, however overall, even with the bugs this is probably equal if not topping the most fun I've ever had playing a game, doubly so with friends.

If you're going to buy one game this year.. or even ever, this is probably the game to buy.
It's not going to please everyone, of course but it has a great deal going for it for many different styles of players, however I understand if turn based play styles aren't for you.

The turn base however does add a lot of accessibility to the game - I could probably give this to my 80 year old mother and she'd have few problems after learning the controls - I think the biggest block to accessibility is a slight lack in some item descriptions, like a note that certain things will not work shape shifted, or clarifying how certain spells target.

As far as Larian have gone they've put out a phenomenal game, and in the little time it's been out done a great job of patching the (expected) broken things and I expect them to continue in the future, for a game of its scale it runs beautifully and is outright amazing in its creativity level.

This may not be the bar we have, but it's definately the bar we need, if not deserves as consumers - a game that is finished from release, has hundreds of hours of game play and no microtransactions, that the developers actively work to polish to the nth degree - it's pride in their work. This is what AAA should be at the least, and Larian, by definition isn't a Triple A studio.

Buy it if you want to support amazing game development and enjoy turn based combat, hell even some that don't normally like turn based will enjoy this.

Good on you Larian.

In the 41st millenium there is only Ogryn. I mean War. War right. If you enjoy shooting things until they explode, amusing banter, running out of ammunition then slashing things til they explode, and upgrading weapons, this is a game for you. Think of Vermintide in space and you kinda got it.

Plot written byG George RR Martin, a decade of time invested in worldbuilding and balancing of only the sort you get with 'SoulsBorne' style games, coupled with weaponry of all sorts, a huge populated world where if you can see it you can probably go there and countless choices in itemisation (again if an enemy is wearing it and you can kill it multiple times there is a likelihood you can get .. anything you can see on them with a little grinding) and playstyle, provided you're willing to die and swear at the game a bit and maybe come back to it later it's a bloody good time considering everything that happens to everyone, as with other 'SoulsBorne' series games and any title involving George RR Martin is actual ass.

Features:
-'stat-at-a-time' leveling system that requires increasing levels of runes, the in game currency to increase.

-Weaponry that can be levelled up and increase its damage through several different methods

-Immense world filled with colourful characters and locations coupled with beautiful scenery and numerous biomes where everything wants to kill you and is quite good at it.

-The occassional Bug.

-Storytelling via characters, there is no quest log, you may want a pen and paper and you better pay attention.

Overall, if you're down for a longwinded game where you interpret parts of the story yourself, everything is difficult and there is no easy mode, but given a little time and effort learning attack patterns and slaying .. all sorts of things, while running into unexpected friendships, numerous intertwined questlines and a game that will not forgive, but is incredibly rewarding when you do something you've been attempting to do (finally) then this (and other Soulsborne Games) is the game for you.

Enjoy, and remember, everyone dies a lot and loses their currency, these games are about the spark of hope you get when you win.
