As someone who lived through the horrors of World War I, I decided to try "Battlefield 1" to see how accurately the game portrays the real events and trials that soldiers faced on the front lines of that terrible war. My life was forever changed by the trenches, the battles, and the losses, so it was intriguing to see how the developers approached this theme.

Comparison with reality:
Scale and intensity of battles:
The game does a good job of conveying the intensity of the battles fought across different fronts — from desert campaigns to the bloody clashes on the Western Front. However, the real war was far more chaotic and exhausting. In reality, we often spent hours or even days in the trenches without moving, waiting for orders, whereas in the game, battles are constant and fast-paced.

Trench warfare:
The trenches are what stick with every soldier from World War I. While "Battlefield 1" does show trench warfare, it looks much more "cinematic" than it was in reality. Real trenches were filthy, cold, and often filled with water, and the fear of constant artillery bombardment is hard to capture in a game. Instead of quick shootouts, we often sat under fire, not knowing if the next minute would be our last.

Weapons and equipment:
The game does a good job representing the variety of weapons and equipment that emerged during World War I: tanks, airplanes, machine guns. However, using these machines in real life was much more challenging. Early tanks were unreliable and frequently broke down on the battlefield. Planes also had numerous technical problems. In the game, everything runs smoother and is more manageable.

Emotional aspect of war:
"Battlefield 1" does attempt to convey some of the tragedy of war — the loss of comrades, the fear and chaos. However, no game can truly represent the real war. We witnessed the deaths of friends and suffered physical and emotional trauma that stays with you for life. The game only scratches the surface of these experiences, focusing more on action than the full spectrum of war’s emotional toll.

Pros of the game:
Graphics and sound design: Visually, the game is stunning. Battlefields, weapons, and vehicles look realistic, and the sound of explosions and gunfire creates an immersive atmosphere.
Variety of combat scenarios: The campaigns cover different theaters of war, from Europe to the Middle East, giving players a sense of the global scale of the conflict.
Weapons and equipment: The variety of weapons and vehicles is well-represented, allowing players to experience the evolution of combat during the war.
Cons of the game:
Simplified depiction of war: Most players are looking for action, but real war is far more than gunfights. In "Battlefield 1," there’s no sense of the constant fear, exhaustion, and helplessness soldiers felt on the front lines.
Heroization of battles: In reality, most soldiers were pawns in a much larger conflict, and no single hero could decide the outcome of the war on the battlefield, as the game often suggests.
Fictionalized moments: Some game moments feel too "heroic" or exaggerated for that period. We weren’t jumping onto tanks or taking down planes on our own.

"Battlefield 1" is an impressive game in terms of scale and graphics, and it does a fair job of showing the brutality and chaos of World War I. However, for those who lived through these events, it’s more of an exciting spectacle than an accurate reflection of the war. The game focuses more on combat moments than on the full emotional and physical trials soldiers endured. It’s a great game for those wanting to learn about this historical period, but it remains a distant representation of reality.

After driving a truck for ten years, I decided to try "Euro Truck Simulator 2" and compare how well the game reflects the reality of a truck driver’s profession. As someone who has seen countless highways, rest stops, and the challenges of the road, I was curious to see if this game could capture even a fraction of what it’s like to be a real driver.

Comparison with reality:
Scale of roads and maps:
ETS2 does a great job of recreating European highways, city architecture, and even the roadside scenery. However, the real-life scale can’t be fully replicated. For instance, in the game, you can drive from Berlin to Paris in a couple of hours, while in reality, it takes a full day. But this is understandable — for gamers, it would be too tedious to drive those distances in real-time.

Truck handling:
Here I was pleasantly surprised. The driving physics are quite realistic, especially if you use a steering wheel and pedals. You can feel the inertia, and the load weight affects how the truck handles — a big plus for a simulator. But in reality, driving is even more challenging. For example, the game doesn’t focus much on wear and tear or engine problems, which happen far more often in real life than you’d expect.

Social aspects of the job:
In real life, being a truck driver isn’t just about driving; it’s also about constant stops at fuel stations, border checks, chatting with other drivers, and even dealing with local authorities. This is underrepresented in the game. In reality, most of your time isn’t spent on the road but waiting for various permits or idling at rest stops.

Weather and road conditions:
The game does a decent job of simulating changing weather. Rain, fog, and night driving add to the realism. But actual conditions are tougher: ice, slippery roads, unexpected breakdowns, or accidents aren’t as well depicted.

Pros of the game:
Atmosphere: The game lets you feel the spirit of travel, freedom, and the open road, something many people miss in real life.
Graphics: Landscapes, cities, and vehicles are well-designed and visually appealing.
Opportunity to experience truck driving without real risks: For those who’ve never driven a truck, it’s a great way to understand what this world looks like.
Economic aspects: Running your own business, buying new trucks, and hiring drivers adds variety and a strategic element to the game.
Cons of the game:
Lack of real-world problems: Things go much more smoothly in the game than in real life. There are no unexpected stops due to breakdowns, difficult interactions with clients, or parking issues at crowded rest stops.
Compressed scale: Real distances are heavily shortened. This makes the game faster-paced, but you lose the sense of real long-haul journeys.
Simplified controls: Even with all the settings, driving in the game is still simplified compared to the real-world challenges on the road.

"Euro Truck Simulator 2" is a fantastic game for those who want to try their hand at being a truck driver. It captures the main aspects of the profession: long trips, handling heavy vehicles, and logistics. However, it's still a game, and it only partially reflects the real challenges of the job. For a real truck driver like myself, it’s more of a fun way to reminisce about past trips and feel some nostalgia rather than a full-fledged simulation of real conditions.

Early Access Review
Good game that you can play with friends for a long time.

The suspense is always maintained throughout the map progression, and there is a consistently dark atmosphere. On the downside, there is a limited selection of maps for the game. I hope it will expand in the future. There is also a lack of animations for ghosts and killings.

In general, I recommend trying it out for playing with friends. It will be fun.

This is not my first account, and I have extensive experience playing CS:GO, but what Valve has done to the game is unacceptable.

Incredibly poor matchmaking balance.
The new tick rate feels like an underdeveloped child conceived by two individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The ranking system and calibration in Premier have changed several times since release, and now we have players with 15k+ hours who were Silver 1-6 in CS:GO, and this is a FACT.
They released the game prematurely, why not leave what brought joy to thousands of players?
Game modes, weapon models—none of this has been updated in the game yet.
As a result, we have a game that is not ready for release. The game should have been released at least in 2024. I hope Valve does what is expected of them, and I might change my opinion because I believe it's possible.

ецензія на гру Farm Manager 2018

A good game with realistic car physics. Frequent and interesting updates. The game delights with a wide variety of cars and their detailing. I recommend trying it.
