Before I bought the game I've seen it described as "the starting phase of a city-builder, over and over again", and as someone who got bored of my Cities Skylines town every time it got a population of around 10 000, I was immediately intrigued.
Turns out it's a very apt description, and with added roguelite-ish elements of randomness, a little bit of colony management and supply chain logistics it creates a compelling, fun, very replayable package.
The artstyle isn't groundbreaking, but it's a very pleasant game to look at. The soundtrack is great, although I wish there was simply more music - it can start to get repetitive after playing through a couple outposts in one sitting.
Both combine for immaculate vibes and a gripping atmosphere - the storm season often feels genuinely creepy, then the sun comes out and covers you and your settlement in a warm blanket. But there is no respite, as you now have to deal with the fact that you've lost a third of your inhabitants and desperately need that damn trader to have that damn thing or else we're gonna have to redirect the workforce to prep for the next storm instead of completing a quest and the queen's going to get angry and-... it's intense at times. And it's good.

Addictive. Perfect for a perfectionist, a mildly infuriating problem solving simulator..
