Please do yourself a favor and play this game.
It's super worth the price and it's criminal that the amount of players isn't higher.
  • Easy to play with friends and family - all games can ad-hoc join at any time, virtually no lag issues
  • True-to-life recreation of Dave and Busters, the amount of effort into making each game like the real thing is amazing
  • Minigolf is fun and well-executed, this alone is comparable to Golf It/Golf With Your Friends
  • Other random things that are fun - a Casino, Super Monkey Ball Game (Ball Race), various activities to do together
  • Work on your Condo (personal home) with amazing editability and customization
  • NO microtransactions, earn everything in the game
  • Lots of achievements and things to work towards - perfect for achievement hunters or people who like completing tasks
  • Social gathering aspects like VR Chat and proximity voice chat
  • Great Steam Workshop integration, big library, very easily search and find characters to play as or items for your Condo
What are you waiting for? You will get your money's worth with this game for sure.

The base game is fun and there is no competition in the genre for this style of game. If you've never played PoE before, I'd recommend to at least play it for a little while, since there's no game like it.

Unfortunately the direction this game is headed is not where I'd love for it to go.

Harvest was the most fun this game ever was. Being able to craft your own gear made me feel closer to my character than ever before.
I still remember the Staff I worked on making as perfect as possible, and the Helmets I kept crafting and selling, while trying to make a better one for myself at the same time. I rarely ever actually remember the gear I used on some character in some league, but Harvest was distinctly memorable, and I felt like a great path to be headed down.

It seems like the game is moving away from this path, which is really a let down for me.

I've also kinda had a bad taste in my mouth from the more complex leagues. The worst of it was Betrayal, but I wasn't a huge fan of Synthesis or Heist's level-up system. Once you understand them they can be fun, but they're a huge turn-off for anyone who doesn't want to read a wiki and watch several hours of guides trying to understand how to best maximize your time. The game should feel inherently rewarding to play- and putting in mechanics that are not straightforward makes you question yourself on whether or not you're best maximizing your time, which is a bad gameplay loop to introduce people to imo. The game was better was things were less complex- remember how popular Breach was?

TL;DR
There's so much more to go on here but if I had to summarize main thoughts:
(a) working on upgrading your own gear is a better gameplay loop than buying it
(b) playing the game should be inherently rewarding and fun for an average player even if playing not super-efficiently
(c) less complex mechanics can be more fun

I don't know why this got released as "1.0". There's still a lot of bugs, and they're pretty annoying. You'll have to restart the game several times, and get weird bugs here or there.

The core game is pretty good though. It definitely scratches the Fantasy Life itch to some degree - at least, enough to want to play for hours a day. I just realized its 3am and need to go to bed.

The game seems like it'll forever be in a "pretty complete but missing a lot of polish" state, unfortunately. But hey, at least the majority of it works. I don't see any other games hitting the Fantasy Life vibe like this one is trying to.

This also works great on Steam Deck- playing on the big TV from my couch is great fun, and so is playing on the go.

$3 for this?? You're wasting your money by not buying this.

This has a fun core gameplay mechanic. The synergies of different abilities working together to make a mess and fight hordes of enemies is great.

This feels like a much simpler/choose-your-own-adventure version of games like Binding of Isaac, where you get to the "mayhem of enemies and item synergies" part a lot faster.

There's a lot less to this - the amount of total hours you'll get is not nearly as high as similar roguelites. But the price cannot be argued with, and it's fun.

Two-player co-operative platforming is a pretty fun time, for the most part.

There's a lack of good two-player games, and this is a good entry to the shortlist.

I wish the ending played out differently, but what ya gonna do.

This game is a steal. With a group of friends it's a ton of fun, highly recommend.

The only downside is that there isn't a huge amount of content- we finished it in about 4 hours. But at the price point, can't complain at all, and it was a ton of fun.

I hope whatever sequel comes out of this ends up with Steam Workshop support, expanding the game's life crazy, like Golf It.

This game is super good, I'd highly recommend it. There's a SFW version to just get the Castlevania experience.

This game doesn't get the attention it deserves, because most people would be immediately turned away by the content. Really is a shame considering how good of a Castlevania game this is.
