A loving remaster of a classic trilogy, content rich with all 3 of the original games plus expansions and features nice modern graphics and quality of life additions that are welcoming to newcomers and still includes options to play the games as they originally were so both Tomb Raider veterans and those who are just playing them for the first time can get into them and enjoy it.

Easily the best retro shooter since Dusk.
Featuring great, varied and large levels with tremendously memorable set pieces, an eye popping visual style that will still impress even with the retro look, extremely gorey satisfying gunplay with one of the most unique weapon sets in shooters today supporting one of the smoothest movement systems in shooters period, an absolutely fantastic soundtrack and plenty of content even without checking out the workshop.
If you are even a casual fan of retro shooters you need to get Turbo Overkill, its that good

While its not as impressive or as interesting as the original, its still a worthwhile entry into the series with terrific visuals, satisfying melee combat and a much improved parkour system with enough content to keep you invested for a long time.

Shadow Man Remastered is a great remaster of a niche classic.
In Shadow Man you play as Michael LeRoi, a man who becomes an immortal voodoo warrior called the
Shadow Man that is able to freely travel to the land of the dead thanks to the powers of a voodoo priestess called Nettie.
In the game your main goal is to collect 120 dark souls, kill a group of serial Killers known as The Five and stop Armageddon from reaching the real world.

The game can be best described as a mix between Tomb Raider and Super Mario 64 with a dark gothic atmosphere draped over the whole experience.
It's similarities to Tomb Raider can be shown in its combat and platforming, in each of the games 20 or so huge levels you will be climbing, swimming, shimmying, pushing blocks and all other typical tomb raider mechanics in order to traverse through these levels.
This can sometimes be to a frustrating degree as you will sometimes miss jumps that you thought you hit and fall to your death just because the jump is on a slight delay (Just like Tomb Raider)

Combat can also be frustrating at first as your gun is weak and you don't have any other weapons so enemies can take a while to kill, but over time as your gun becomes more powerful and you gain more weapons in your arsenal it becomes more enjoyable and you have more choices in how you want to deal with the many enemies that you encounter.
Therefore a good idea especially in the early game is to save and save often, negating having to replay large chunks of the same level due to missing a jump or being overwhelmed by several enemies at once.

The similarities to Super Mario 64 is in its collectible hunting and the non-linear way in which you progress through each level.
In order to collect the 120 dark souls that you need to unlock new items and unlock paths to new levels you will have to traverse through 20 gigantic levels that range from cathedrals and temples to a giant house of horrors known as The Asylum and even the house of a deranged serial killer.
Some of these levels are so large that they can be fairly confusing to navigate so always keep a mind on what you have accomplished during a certain level and what you need to further progress later in your adventure (although there are some very useful maps that can be found on the internet).
Each of these levels are boostered tremendously thanks to the stellar atmosphere and terrific soundtrack keeping you on edge throughout the experience.

The remaster has added 3 new levels, vastly improved the graphics and shifted/added a lot of items around the game world.
The graphic improvements are immediately noticeable to anyone who has played the original version and it now looks as smooth and polished as a game from 1999 can be without becoming a full remake.
The new levels are a mixed bag though and while 2 of them are solid enough the third one is way too large and confusing to navigate for its own good and doesn't even fit with the rest of the game.
The game is a lengthy experience also and if you commit to try and get 100% completion you will easily sink over 20 hours into it.

Overall if you were a fan of the original game then by all means get this remaster, it still has too many oldschool problems with its platforming and navigating that modern gamers will quickly tire of the experience however .

The darkest and most atmospheric game in the franchise to this day.
The plot is simple and follows on directly from Doom 2, a single monster has survived your rampage, regenerated and has created a new army of monsters to ruin your day.

Gameplay wise its basically the same as all the other Doom games with the exception being a higher emphasis on puzzle solving throughout its 30 level campaign, these range from simple switch puzzles to time based platforming.
These will not only you complete levels but will also help you into locating the 4 secret levels and gathering the 3 artifacts needed in order to power up the lone new weapon in this game, The Unmaker.
The Unmaker is a laser based weapon that when fully upgraded can decimate entire rooms of enemies and even cyberdemons with ease so the artifacts are well worth collecting if you want a significantly easier experience.
While the other weapons are basically the same as they are in the earlier games the chaingun and rocket launcher now give you pushback so make sure to not be near a pit when you fire them.

The monster selection has seen a slight decrease in this game compared to the rest of the classic ones, there are no Chaingunners, Revenants, Spider Masterminds or Arch-Viles and while i never liked Arch-Viles and Spider Masterminds were always rare, the lack of Chaingunners and Revenants can definitely be felt at times since the game likes to make heavy use of Hell Knights and Barons, the level design and atmosphere more than make up for this shortcoming however.

While this 30 level campaign does have its fair share of decent tech base levels, most of it takes place in Hell and these hell levels are some of the most well designed and atmospheric hell levels that you will play in any Doom game.
From ever changing level design in maps such as Breakdown and Pitfalls to atmospheric and dark masterpieces like Altar of Pain and Dark Citadel it is an experience that you wont forget.

Much of this atmosphere can be mostly attributed to the genius of Aubrey Hodges and his terrific ambient soundtrack sets the perfect tone for the journey that you will take.
The visuals also set the perfect tone for the much darker game that you will play and the ever changing architecture is bolstered by all the satanic imagery littered throughout the levels, monsters also have a more menacing look to them and some of them can even look quite creepy such as the Pain Elemental.

The new levels are also a definite welcome inclusion and are very solid additions in their own right although i was disappointed that none of Aubrey Hodges new Doom songs that hes released over the years were used.
Overall this is an underrated gem in the Doom franchise and if you dont mind the more horror focused atmosphere or the slight increase in puzzle solving over balls to the wall action then this is a must buy.

An intense multiplayer experience that can be equal parts satisfying or frustrating depending on who you play against.
In Depths main mode Blood and Gold you play either in a team of 4 divers or a pair of sharks with different goals for each team.
As divers you either have to kill all the shark tickets using whatever weapons/consumables you can purchase, these range from Spear Guns and Assault Rifles to Land Mines and Sentry Turrets. These can be purchased by accomplishing the second goal of the game mode which is to collect as much treasure as you can and storing them in your treasure collector S.T.E.V.E who goes from point to point of each map.

As the sharks your 2 goals are to either eliminate all the divers using a wide variety of shark types each with their own abilities and pros/cons or to completely destroy S.T.E.V.E the treasure collector. Some of the shark abilities range from making hallucinations as the Goblin shark to confuse the divers to going temporarily invisible as the Lemon shark.

Visually the game still holds up relatively well even after 5 years with complex maps to explore and some satisfyingly gruesome deaths for both teams, the audio is equally intense as your heartbeat increases whenever a shark is close to the death sounds of your partners as they get chewed to pieces.

While the game mode is relatively simple there is plenty of variety from all the different sharks to featuring over a dozen maps to dive and explore in, the game is also still being updated to this day with new events and other content.
While this game can have a steep learning curve (Especially as a shark) it is more than worth the price with its intense and unique gameplay that will keep you coming back for more.

Dusk is one of the best Oldskool shooters to come out in recent years.
Gameplay is as satisfyingly oldskool as you would hope with very fast paced movement, plenty of enemies to kill, satisfying weapons to use and labyrinthine levels to explore.
Levels range from farms and towns to industrial facilities and gothic castles and even to more otherwordly locations later in the campaign each with their own enemy types and unique atmosphere.

The weapons are for the most part your typical FPS fare such as Pistols, Shotguns, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Crossbow, Grenade Launcher etc.
Some of these weapons can be duel wielded and with the addition of powerups and the fast player movement in general often feel great to use on your enemies.

Presentation is pretty spot on for the mid 90's aesthetic the developers were going for so lots of chunky enemy and weapon models and the levels generally open up over time leading to some pretty eye-popping scenes from time to time.
The soundtrack is also terrific with lots of heavy pulse pounding tracks to keep that adrenaline flowing and also some creepy ambient tracks when the game wants to set a heavy atmosphere.

The length of the game can tend to last up to 8-10 hours across all 30+ levels and then there is the endless and online modes plus the prospect of workshop support and online co-op in the future so Dusk is well worth the asking price.
If you've ever been a fan of old school FPS games then Dusk should definitely be on your list.

Sniper Elite 4 is easily the best entry in the franchise.
The Plot is basically the same as the other Sniper Elite games, you are a Sniper helping resistance groups mess up the nazi's plans in whichever country you are sent too, in this case its Italy.

The Main difference that sets this entry apart from the others is the ability to get several side objectives by talking to your allies before each mission, these include gathering documents to destroying Artillery and add some much needed replay value to each mission.

Presentation wise this game is fantastic with the gorgeous italian setting and open ended levels making sure these levels have more detail than ever before. Sound is also great with some very satisfying gun and explosion sounds and some fairly decent voice acting.

Gameplay is essentially the same as previous entrys only polished so making headshots and other brutal x-ray kills with your sniper rifle has never felt more gratifying, stealth is also just as viable as it was before with many available tools to distract your enemies.

Replay value can be lacking in the main game though as theres only 8 main missions and 2 extra co-op specific missions (which are great as well, just wish there was more of them)
I would still definitely recommend the game if you even have a passing interest in the Sniper Elite series, especially at a discount.

This is a great remaster of an alltime classic shooter.
In Turok you play as Tal'set who is a time travelling Native American warrior who goes to a world called The Lost Land to stop someone called The Campaigner from ruling the universe.
The game is split up into 8 very large and open levels in which you collect keys to open later levels, collecting hidden pieces of a weapon called the Chronocepter, jumping across difficult jumping puzzles and killing enemies ranging from poachers to dinosaurs and cyborgs with weapons ranging from Shotguns and Rifles to Rocket Launchers and Plasma Guns.

Visually the game was one of the best looking 3D shooters at the time (1997) and the remaster has done its best job trying to make it look acceptable to a modern audience while still catering to the old fanbase.
Audio ranges from a funky Electronic and Tribal soundtrack to meaty weapons and enemies who die in exagerrated and humorous ways which pay homage to its comic book roots.

There are still a few issues that might the game hard to recommend to new people, for one the jumping sections can be rather difficult and tedious to get through and some of the levels can suddenly cut off which will force you to revisit and backtrack through if you missed some of the earlier keys.
Overall though Turok is still a highly entertaining oldschool shooter and the remaster does a fantastic job keeping it up to date and along with workshop support there is plenty to sink your teeth into.

(Obviously doesn't represent my actual game time as i spent all of it on the non-steam retail copy)

Deus Ex to me is the greatest game ever made.
Now that's not to say that it doesn't have its fair share of flaws as no game is ever perfect and they all have their flaws. the graphics even at the time weren't great and were pretty blocky even then, the AI can be really stupid at times and a lot of the foreign voice acting is laughable at best but what makes Deus Ex so great isn't any individual aspect on it's own but the experience as a whole.

From one of the most amazing and memorable soundtracks of all time, to one of the best storys in videogame history full of plot twists and memorable characters, to the wide open level design and the sheer variety of gameplay methods to tackle each mission, even to all the different conversation choices that can make a serious impact down the line.
It's all these elements combined together that makes Deus Ex truly a one of a kind game that is unlike any other and even if you are one of the people that can't get past dated graphics and some of the gameplay features, there are plenty of mods out there that can help make the game feel even better.

Theres even tons of replay value as well with all the different choices and augmentations that you can take as well as all the secrets that you can find on each level if you look hard enough, i was still finding new secrets years after i finished the game for the first time. Bottom line is if you even have a slight interest in Action/Role Playing/Stealth or just terrific story telling in general then Deus Ex is a game that you must experience in your lifetime.
