This was an incredibly fun and enjoyable demo! It builds on the strengths of the first game and improves them in every way. The attention to detail is astounding, and the level of polish is truly impressive. Now, I'm even more excited for the full release, and it just can't come soon enough!
For me, this was a solid 9/10 demo.

Don't read if you don’t want location spoilers (no story spoilers).

Doctor Who: The Edge of Time is a short, decent game if you're a fan of Doctor Who, but unfortunately, it's not a very polished experience.

There were frequent issues with the controls, sometimes I couldn’t grab objects because the game required extreme precision, even when it felt like I had grabbed the items correctly. At one point, I had to restart a chapter because an elevator door wouldn’t open at all , but it worked as expected and opened automatically on my second attempt.

The most disappointing part was the sound design. Many sound effects were either completely wrong or missing altogether. What’s one of the most iconic sounds every Doctor Who fan knows? Here’s a hint: the TARDIS materializing. In this game, it just sounded completely off and felt anticlimactic. Worse yet, when you're inside the TARDIS and it starts up its engine to travel, there’s no sound at all. You can see the center column moving up and down, but it’s completely silent. That was so disappointing! The music also wasn’t from the show, or at least, I didn’t recognize any of it. It just felt very generic.
EDIT: I watched a YouTube-playthrough, and it seems the sound effects were there, and sounded just about correct. Either way, they didn't work for me in my playthrough.

On the plus side, they did get Jodie Whittaker to voice the 13th Doctor, and she does a good job with the script she was given. However, every voiced character is just that, a voice, with no in-game persona. I understand this was probably due to budget constraints, but it still could have been handled much better.

In terms of gameplay, there are some okay moments and some not-so-great ones. The first area you get to has some okay puzzles, and I was hopeful that it would only get better from there, but sadly the puzzles just become easier and easier, and just worse made. I really wish they had expanded on the puzzles more, maybe a little bit like The Room, and also incorporated more elements from the show in the puzzles. It also doesn’t help that there’s a voice constantly feeding you hints, even before you’ve had a chance to look around. This is one of the worst examples I’ve seen of a game not trusting the player to figure things out. I’m not sure if the hints could be turned off, so maybe that’s on me, but this was very frustrating.

I was also disappointed by what you actually do in each chapter. There are some cool scenarios, but they’re completely undermined by bad design choices. Again, I assume this was due to a very limited budget, but that’s not really an excuse in my opinion.

Additionally, I played this on Steam, and as far as I know, this is the only version that didn’t receive the DLC that other platforms got. I played the game on a Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop, and the achievements didn’t unlock at all. Steam didn’t even register any playtime for the game, so this might have been a Virtual Desktop issue.

Conclusion
As a Doctor Who fan, there were definitely some high points, but also some very low ones. If you're a Whovian, then only buy this on a sale. Overall: 5/10. This would have been a in-between recommended and not recommended review for me.

I played this in VR on a Quest 3 with the Touch controllers, and the controls just didn’t work when using either Virtual Desktop or Steam Link. However, through MetaQuest Air Link, the controllers functioned correctly, and I was able to play the game as intended. I also had no issues with uPlay, so as of early 2025, the game is very much playable with this setup.

Transference actually has a decent story that I enjoyed, told in multiple ways through audio logs, video logs (FMV), and various in-game events. I’ve always had a soft spot for FMV games ever since I played Under a Killing Moon back in the day, so it’s great to see modern games incorporating this style.

I think the graphics are quite good, and I often found myself just looking around and enjoying the scenery, though it might not meet everyone’s standards. The audio design deserves a special mention, as it’s fantastic! You hear voices all around you, with eerie sounds kicking in at just the right moments. The soundscape definitely elevates the game significantly.

The horror elements aren’t too intense, even for someone like me who generally avoids scary games, but there were definitely a few moments that really got me, and my heart rate spiked through the roof more than once!

I do wish the puzzles were a bit more intricate and prominent because, as it stands, it mostly feels like an interactive VR walking simulator. That said, I still had fun, and I ended up completing the game in one sitting, even though I hadn’t planned on playing that long. I was initially just trying to get the game to work correctly!

Recommended! 7/10.

A fantastically crafted adventure and collectathon game! You can truly sense the dedication and hard work that went into its creation. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, almost like handcrafted art in a digital medium.

The graphical style has a handmade quality that’s somewhat reminiscent of The Witness, and at times, the mood gave me subtle Beyond Good & Evil vibes but without any combat.

I finished the game over two evenings, and it was an absolute joy from start to finish! It evoked memories of classic games from my youth while combining them with a stunning art style and modern gameplay sensibilities.

Highly recommended!

Avoid at all costs. In it's current state it's buggy and unplayable due to screen resolution/scaling problems.

A great game to just chill with! It's like meditation, and fun at the same time!
It's not for those that need a clear goal to place a checkmark next to though.

I cannot recommend this game, as this is buggy and far inferior compared to the superb version from 2012 version that was delisted and they even made it unplayable by turning the servers off... That was a EXTREMELY ♥♥♥♥♥♥ move.

The wife and I just played four local games with the companion app on each of our phones, and the game soft locked once in the middle of those games. We had two computers to play against as well. She just picked a joker/locomotive card, and it was supposed to be my turn, but it never became my turn. On the PC-screen where it showed the playing field, it said in the bottom of the screen that it was still her turn, but on the left side of the same PC screen my character was highlighted as if it had become my turn. There we were, and non of us could do a thing.

We had to resign and couldn't join the game again. There is no way to play multiple games at the same time (like the last pc version from 2012), and so we couldn't continue this in any way and had to start over.

Multiple times when we try to start a game with the companion app, we get the error message of "version mismatch", and it complains that the host game is out of date. It's not. We just played and it was fine. You just have to try and join the game multiple times to get it to actually work.... *facepalm*

The previous version was so good. You could have a version on your phone, pc, or any platform and just play multiple games against other people at the same time if you wanted.

Also, the achievements do not unlock from playing it in this way with the companion app. We got zero achivements after those 4 games. I was looking through the achievements, and we was supposed to have gotten at least a few from those games we played, but nope. It's broken...

I will not be buying another digital ticket to ride game ever again...

Duck Detective is a really well made and funny game, though a bit on the short side. That said, I will always take quality over quantity. The gameplay consists of searching for clues in the form of names, things or verbs and then completing a short notebook puzzle where you fill in the blank spots with all of the words you just found to solve the case. The puzzles are logical and there is no pixel hunting for clues as everything is clearly marked as something worth investigating. Gameplay wise this is very similar to The Case of the Golden Idol, only a lot easier and more kid/family friendly. I really want to see more cases coming though, as this left me starved for more (salami?)!

If you liked Train Valley 2, or if you missed a bit of the gameplay from Train Valley 1, then this is a good expansion pack for you. I think they mixed the gameplay from TV1 and TV2 in a good manner that is really fun.

On top of that this a really good value pack, since you get so many hours of gameplay out of this. I used about 12 hours to get through this expansion pack, and I didn't rush through the levels and I didn't complete every star objective for each level.

My grade: 8/10

This is a really great time management game that has a pinch of puzzle elements to it. One could say this is a casual take on the Transport Tycoon-types of games. The game takes the concept of the first game and just makes it infinitely better in every way possible, especially with the added workshop mode where you can download user created missions. If you're someone who played and liked the first game, then this is a no brainer, and if this looks even remotely fun to you, just give it a test run, you won't be disappointed.
